The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 256

What did he just say?

Ella’s eyes narrowed. He had gotten Monica pregnant, and now he had the nerve to say something like that to her.

She glared at him, cheeks burning with shame and anger. “You’re shameless.”

David looked down at her, his dark eyes unreadable. Her long, silky hair was a tangled mess on the sofa cushions, framing her delicate face. Those clear, dark eyes stared up at him, exactly the way she’d looked in his dreams.

In that instant, all his memories came rushing back.

A slow, teasing smile played on David’s lips. “Why are you calling me shameless? What did I do? Tell me.”

She was quick with words, but when it came to insults, she was almost innocent. All she could do was throw out a soft “jerk,” her voice thin and trembling.

Ella shot him a glare. “What do you want from me? If you ever show up again, I’ll tell Monica everything. She’s pregnant with your child now, she can’t handle any more stress. Don’t push me.”

At Monica’s name, David’s eyes flashed cold and sharp. So Monica thought she could play games with him. She’d regret it soon enough.

“Ella, are you mad at me? Is it because of Monica? Because she’s pregnant?”

Ella’s small face flushed red and white, and suddenly, a wave of anger, embarrassment, and sadness hit her all at once. She sat up and bit down, hard, on his Adam’s apple.

It was a sensitive spot for a man. David winced, his eyes darkening with pain. He sat up and pulled her easily onto his lap, his hands steady and strong.

He was the image of a classic heartthrob. Crisp white shirt, black dress pants, the kind of look only a powerful man could pull off. Ella wore a white sweater and a black pleated skirt, looking every bit the innocent college girl. The two of them togethe looked like a scene straight out of a movie.

A housekeeper walked out from the kitchen, carrying a cup of tea. “Sir—”

She froze, eyes wide at the sight before her. The housekeepers at Bellemont Manor were all older women. Seeing their boss cradle his wife like that made them blush and hurry back to the kitchen, pretending they hadn’t seen anything.

She didn’t want any of it.

“Let go of me. Don’t touch me. Go be with Monica.” Ella tried to pry his fingers off.

David’s mouth set in a hard line. “It’s not like that with Monica…”

He started to explain.

At that moment, someone pounded on the door. Lilly and Fiona had caught up to them. Their voices rang out from the hallway. “Ella! Let her out, right now!”

David’s eyebrows pulled together in frustration.

Ella didn’t waste the chance. She shoved him away as hard as she could and ran out of the room.
