The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 257

“Ella, are you alright? What did Mr. Harmon want with you?”

Lilly and Fiona hurried over, concern etched on their faces.

Ella frowned, still trying to make sense of what had happened. Honestly, she couldn’t figure out what David was thinking. He had brought her all the way to Bellemont Manor just to say “I’m sorry.” Twice.

The whole thing felt off.

But then she remembered Monica’s pregnancy and decided she wasn’t about to waste another second on David. “Lilly, Fiona, let’s just go.”

“Yeah, let’s.”

The three of them walked out together. Back inside, David sat down on the sofa, trying to hide the storm of emotions flickering in his eyes.

Aiden came in quietly, lowering his voice as he spoke. “Sir, I found out what you wanted to know.”

David looked up. “Go on.”

“It turns out Monica has a boyfriend back in her hometown. He’s crazy about her, working the toughest jobs on construction sites just to pay her college tuition. They’ve been together for a while, and the baby is his.”

A cold, sharp smile tugged at David’s lips. “Isn’t tomorrow Monica’s birthday? Make sure she gets a special present.”

Aiden caught on instantly. “Yes, sir.”

David’s eyes narrowed as he glanced at Aiden. “That night, it wasn’t Monica. It was Ella. She came from the hospital to find me. How did you not know that? I don’t want this kind of mistake to happen again.”

Aiden broke into a cold sweat. “You’re right, sir. I didn’t expect Madam to come looking for you. Maybe she still cares about you.”

Did she? Did she still care?

That night, when he’d been drugged and desperate enough to drive to the hospital just to see her, he’d thought she’d turn him away. But she hadn’t. She came. She chose him. She wanted him too.

Monica winked. “It’s a secret for now.”

Lilly and Fiona rolled their eyes. “She’s really disgusting.”

Ella had planned to have dinner here, but now she just wanted to leave. “Lilly, Fiona, let’s go eat somewhere else.”

“Yeah, there’s no way I could eat here.”

They turned to go, but Monica spotted Ella and made a beeline for her. “Ella, you came to my birthday party?”

Ella looked at her, catching the smug little smile on Monica’s face.

“No.”

Monica’s grin grew even wider. “Why, Ella? Mr. Harmon is coming to my party soon. As my good friend, you should stay and witness the happiest moment of my life.”
