The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 265

The dorm was so quiet, Jessa’s voice came through loud and clear. Ella heard everything, even though she tried not to.

She poured herself some water and took a sip. It tasted oddly bitter, as if all her doubts had settled right in the glass.

David stayed silent, but his handsome face was shadowed with a frown.

“David, I miss you. I want to see you right now. Please, come here and be with me,” Jessa’s voice pleaded through the phone.

David tightened his grip on his phone, stretched out his long legs, and walked out.

Ella watched him leave. Of course he was going to see Jessa.

She almost forgot. Monica was just a brief distraction. The one David loved was always Jessa.

One phone call from Jessa, one simple sentence, and he was gone.

That night between her and David hadn’t changed a thing.

Ella let out a small, bitter laugh at herself.

Out in the hallway, David’s frown deepened. “Jessa, I can’t come over right now.”

Jessa’s frustration exploded through the phone. “Why not? Are you staying to be with Ella? David, I’m serious, you need to choose between me and her. If you don’t come over tonight, I swear you’ll regret it!”

The call ended abruptly. Jessa had hung up.

David’s lips pressed into a tight, cold line.

He stood there, looking back at the door to Ella’s dorm. Before, he wouldn’t have hesitated. He would’ve gone straight to Jessa. Now, he wasn’t so sure.

Just then, his phone chimed. A new message request.

Fiona.

She had added him as a contact.

He remembered her eyes just now, shiny with unshed tears, cool and fragile. So alone.

Loving him had made her suffer.

Back in the dorm, Ella stood by herself for a long time, her lashes casting delicate shadows on her cheeks. She looked peaceful under the soft glow of the lamp, but so alone.

A notification chimed from the phone on her bed.

Ella snapped out of her thoughts, turning with her water glass still in hand.

The next second, she bumped straight into a solid chest. David was there. She had no idea when he’d come back, but now he was standing right behind her.

Her mind went blank. “Why did you come back?”

Why had he come back? Didn’t he go to Jessa?
