The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 264

“What else could it be?” Ella shot back.

The soft glow of the dorm room lights fell across her face, making her skin look impossibly smooth, almost translucent. Even the tiny fuzz on her cheeks caught the light, delicate and perfect. David’s eyes crinkled with a smile. “Isn’t there something you want to say about that night?”

That night...

She hadn’t let herself think about it in ages, but the moment he mentioned it, the memory rushed back. Two bodies, one strong, one soft, tangled together on the sofa. Sweat and pleasure blurring together, everything exploding at the end like fireworks in the dark.

He had leaned over her, whispering her name. Ella.

She glanced up, her eyes locking with his. He was looking back at her, deep and unblinking.

A flush crept across her cheeks. Because of Monica, she’d always thought he’d moved on, left that night behind. But now, seeing herself reflected in his eyes, she realized he hadn’t forgotten at all.

He remembered, just like she did.

“I don’t have anything to say.” She turned and started to walk away.

But David stepped in front of her, tall and unyielding, blocking her path.

She tried moving left. He moved with her. She tried right. He followed, refusing to let her slip past. He was being stubborn, almost playful, trapping her in the circle of his shadow.

Ella glared at him. “What do you want?”

David’s lips curled up. His voice dropped low. “What do you want?”

She stared at him, confused. Did he think she wanted something from him just because they’d spent that night together? Was this some kind of payoff? After all, he’d given Monica everything, handed her the world, made her a star.

“I don’t want anything.”

She tried to push him aside and leave.

Her eyes were wet and shining. David cupped her face, leaned down, and kissed her lips.

Right then, a phone started ringing. The sound broke the moment.

Ella pushed him away quickly. “You have a call.”

David pulled his phone from his pocket. The name Jessa flashed on the screen.

He looked at Ella, but she’d already seen the name. She stepped back, putting distance between them.

David had no choice but to answer. Jessa’s voice came through right away. “David, where are you? Are you with Ella again?”

“David, did you forget what you promised me? You said it was over with Ella. You said you’d divorce her as soon as you could. You said you wouldn’t sleep with her again. Did you forget all that?”
