The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 263

Fiona’s eyes went wide. “Wait, are you saying Monica’s pregnant and the baby isn’t Mr. Harmon’s? It’s her boyfriend’s?”

Ella had already guessed something must’ve happened at Monica’s birthday party, but this was beyond anything she’d imagined.

Monica had a boyfriend.

The baby was his.

So what was going on between Monica and David?

Before she could wrap her head around it, someone knocked softly at the door.

“Who is it?”

Ella got up to open the door. Standing there was David, impossibly handsome and looking completely out of place in the hallway. She froze. What was he even doing here? This was the girls’ dorm.

Without a word, she tried to close the door right away. But David was faster. He put his hand against the door, blocking it. His tall figure seemed to fill the doorway, and his eyes were locked on her. “Ella, we need to talk.”

“I don’t want to.”

“You don’t have a choice.”

David pushed the door open and stepped inside like he owned the place.

Lilly jumped in, quick to read the room. “Ella, Mr. Harmon, you two go ahead and talk. We’ll head out.”

She was already ushering Fiona toward the hallway.

Fiona tried to resist. “I don’t want to go… mmph!”

Lilly clamped a hand over Fiona’s mouth and pulled her out the door, tossing a look over her shoulder. “We won’t be back tonight.”

She closed the door behind them, leaving Ella alone with David.

That morning, Monica had called her away on purpose. The minute Ella walked out, Monica snuck in and pretended to be her. It had all been Monica’s plan from the start.

Ella realized Monica had been after David all along.

David stepped closer, his words softer now. “The only reason I gave Monica all those opportunities, the only reason I helped her become a star, was because I thought she was you.”

He was so close, Ella could feel his breath on her skin. The air between them felt charged, tense in a way that made her heart race.

He thought Monica was her.

Ella turned her face away, keeping her voice icy. “Fine. If that’s all you wanted to say, you can go now.”

She was dismissing him.

David’s lips curled into a small, wry smile. “That’s it? You’re just going to let me leave?”
