The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 276

Since the divorce, David and Ella hadn’t spoken at all. This was the first time he’d heard anything about her.

So she’d been sick.

Jessa’s lips curled into a smile, her eyes flickering with smugness, pity, and a hint of mockery. “Wow, I didn’t realize Ella was still so hung up on David.”

Maureen joined in, rolling her eyes. “With Ella’s background, she’s never going to find another man like Mr. Harmon. I almost feel bad for her… almost.”

Jessa tilted her head and looked at David, her tone teasing. “David, since Ella’s sick, shouldn’t you, as her ex-husband, give her a call? Comfort her a bit?”

David’s face was unreadable. He always looked so calm, so refined. He glanced at Jessa. “Sure. I’ll call her right now.”

He reached for his phone, making it look real.

Jessa’s smile faded in an instant. “Don’t you dare!”

David let a small, amused smile slip. “Then why did you bring it up?”

He was just messing with her. Calling Ella was the last thing on his mind.

Jessa pouted, but her eyes sparkled. She let out a soft huff, pretending to be annoyed.

Maureen threw her hands up. “I can’t with you two. Maybe this third wheel should just excuse herself?”

David stood up. “I’ll leave you some privacy.”

He walked out, leaving the room behind.

Jessa settled deeper into the pillows, looking completely at ease. Maureen watched her, a touch of envy in her gaze. “Jessa, you and Mr. Harmon are inseparable now. Poor Ella... she must be miserable.”

Jessa let out a little laugh, feeling more satisfied than ever. This suicide attempt had really paid off. “Ella needs a reality check. She’s just a small-town girl, no degree, no job, and she thought she could compete with me for David? All I did was remind her where she belongs.”

Maureen nodded, voice low and secretive. “Jessa, you need to keep going. Get Mr. Harmon to marry you soon. Grandma still wants us to have a joint wedding.”

Divorcing Ella was only the beginning. The next step was to get David to put a ring on her finger.

Maureen beamed, almost giddy. “He proposed. I said yes.”

Jessa’s heart skipped when she saw the size of that diamond, but she didn’t feel jealous at all. David would give her an even bigger one, she was sure of it.

With David, she never needed to envy any other woman.

“Jessa, we’re just waiting for your good news now. Once you and Mr. Harmon are engaged, we can finally have that joint wedding. It’ll be the event of the year in Rockford Bay.”

Jessa smiled, full of confidence. “Just wait. That day’s coming soon.”

David stood in the hallway, tall and imposing. Aiden arrived with a stack of documents. “Sir, these are today’s files for your signature.”

David didn’t turn around, his gaze fixed out the window. “Leave them in the room.”

Aiden hesitated, voice lower. “Sir, about your wife… I mean, Ms. Irvine…”
