The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 277

Before he could get the words out, David interrupted quietly, his voice cool. “Ella and I are divorced. You don’t need to update me about her.”

Aiden paused, hesitating for a second before replying in a respectful tone, “Yes, sir.” He turned and left without another word.

Jessa stepped out just as the conversation ended. She’d heard every word, and a smile tugged at her lips. David had always been a man of action. Once he divorced Ella, that was it. He cut her out of his life completely.

Now, his heart and his attention belonged only to Jessa.

She was the one he loved most.

Jessa walked over and slipped her arms around David from behind, holding him close. He didn’t even need to look to know it was her. He let his gaze drift from the window, focusing on her delicate hands wrapped tight around his waist.

Her right wrist was almost healed, but a thin scar still lingered, marring her flawless skin.

Jessa was a dancer. She cared about beauty more than anyone.

David gently took her wrist, his fingers tracing the line of the scar. “I’ve already reached out to the best doctors abroad. They’ll help you get rid of this scar.”

Jessa smiled, her lips curving with a hint of mischief. “No, I want to keep it.”

David turned to face her, a little confused. “Why?”

She met his eyes, her voice soft and full of meaning. “Because it’s proof of how much I love you. I want you to see it every day. To remember that you’re supposed to love me, too.”

Jessa was smart. She knew that keeping the scar would always remind David of his guilt, especially since it was from that night with Ella.

David watched her for a moment, then pulled her into his arms, his voice gentle. “It won’t ever happen again.”

Become best friends with Allie? David looked at her, thinking that might not be so easy.

Still, he didn’t say no. “Alright, I’ll give it a try.”

“Thank you, David.” Jessa nestled into his chest, a satisfied smile on her face. In her mind, she was already gloating. Ella, what do you have left to compete with me now?

Just then, David’s phone rang, breaking the moment.

It was a call from Mr. Shepherd at Harvard.

David answered, and Mr. Shepherd’s voice came through the line. “Mr. Harmon, there’s a big academic summit coming up at Rockford Bay’s Olympic Center. Top minds from all over the world will be there. We’d like you and your genius girl to team up and deliver the keynote speech for Harvard.”

David held the phone, a strange feeling twisting inside him. Was he really about to meet that genius girl?
