The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 291

Lucas glanced back and caught sight of Sarah’s sweet, innocent face.

His eyes brightened. “Sarah? What are you doing here?”

She was dressed in a white and blue sailor top with a short black skirt that hugged her curves just right. Standing in front of him, she looked so cute as she smiled softly. “Lucas, you let me hop in your car when it was raining earlier. Now I’m holding the umbrella for you. Let’s call it even.”

Lucas grinned.

“Looks like you’ve got plans tonight,” Sarah said, handing him the umbrella. “Take it. I’ll get out of your way.”

She turned to leave, but as soon as she took a step, her ankle twisted. She gasped, pain flashing across her face.

“Sarah, are you okay?” Lucas was at her side in an instant, worry all over his face.

Tears shimmered in Sarah’s eyes, making her look small and fragile. “I twisted my ankle. It really hurts…”

“Here, let me help.” Without thinking twice, Lucas scooped her up into his arms.

Sarah looked up at him, her cheeks turning pink. “Lucas, won’t this mess up your date?”

He gave her a crooked smile. “Nothing’s more important than you right now.”

Sarah’s blush deepened. “Can you take me to the dance studio instead? I’ve got some ointment there.”

Holding her close, Lucas headed toward the dance studio. Sarah watched his face, curiosity sparkling in her eyes. “Hey, Lucas, how did you know who I was?”

He thought for a second. “Remember that basketball game at Central College? I was the team captain. You were leading the cheer squad. The moment you started dancing, I couldn’t look away. But back then, you didn’t seem interested in any of the guys.”

Sarah had always been the cheer captain. That day, she wore her cheer outfit and lit up the court with her dance. She was impossible to ignore. The whole crowd was buzzing, guys whispering about how she was the hottest girl in the dance department.

Truth was, the dance department had its own kind of fame. People joked about Sarah’s boobs and another girl called Giada’s butt, saying they were impossible for any guy to resist.

“Lucas, aren’t you going to answer? What if it’s important?” Sarah asked.

A shadow flickered over his expression, like he couldn’t be bothered. “It can wait.”

Lilly was already at the movie theater. When she first got there, the lobby was packed, but now she was the only one left.

The movie had started a while ago. Everyone had already gone inside.

She checked her phone. She’d been waiting since seven, and now it was eight. Lucas still hadn’t shown up.

Lilly pulled out her phone and called him. All she got was a cold, robotic voice telling her the number couldn’t be reached and to try again later.
