The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 299

Ella looked at him with those clear, bright eyes, a teasing smile curving her lips. “Mr. Harmon, you must know a ton of successful men. If you find someone good, introduce me, will you?”

David just glanced her way, then looked off and loosened his tie. After a pause, his voice was cool and even. “If I come across someone suitable, I’ll let you know.”

“Thanks.”

Right then, the bathroom door swung open and Lilly rushed out, her hair still damp. “Ella, your turn. Go on.”

Ella didn’t waste a second and headed straight in.

David was the last one to shower. By the time he came out, Ella and Lilly had already claimed the bed and were lying side by side.

The girls were close, heads together under the covers. Lilly looked a lot better after crying it out, and she’d told Ella everything about Lucas and Sarah.

When Ella finished listening, she frowned a little. “Lilly, it sounds like Sarah went after your fiancé on purpose. She’s easy enough to deal with, but the real problem is Lucas. Do you still like him?”

Lilly shook her head. “No, not anymore. I used to think he was this warm, caring guy, but it was all fake. He was just pretending.”

Ella let out a breath, relieved. Sarah was annoying, but Lucas was the real issue. She’d been worried Lilly would be stuck on him.

If you don’t let people walk all over you, they can’t. That was the Lilly she knew—bright, resilient, full of life.

Ella squeezed Lilly’s hand. “Remember what you said to me when I got divorced?”

Lilly grinned. “Screw David!”

Ella laughed. “Screw Lucas!”

He glanced at her, his tone casual. “Aren’t I your brother? Can’t I sleep next to my sister?”

Ella was left speechless. This guy was unbelievable.

But with just one bed, David could only sleep on her side, on Lilly’s side, or in the middle. Not knowing the full story between David and Lilly, Ella definitely didn’t want him next to Lilly. It would only give people the wrong idea. She shot him a glare, but in the end, she gave in.

David took the outer edge of the bed. Ella handed him an extra blanket and squeezed into the middle, making sure to keep her distance from him while she huddled under the covers with Lilly.

David lay on his back, staring at the ceiling. The blanket he’d been given still held a soft, familiar scent from Ella.

He and Ella had been divorced for a while now, and he’d been spending his time with Jessa. He thought he was over her. That scent, though, brought every memory flooding back.

He folded his arms behind his head, wide awake, staring into the darkness.
