The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 305

“It’s obvious Lucas is planning to embarrass Lilly in front of everyone tomorrow.”

People at Central College were obsessed with the idea of the campus heartthrob and the campus queen getting together. It was the school’s favorite rumor.

Ella listened to all the gossip with a sly smile curling on her lips. Sarah had been stirring up drama these past couple of days, and Jessa was definitely behind the scenes, making things worse for Lilly.

They wanted to embarrass Lilly? We’ll see who ends up embarrassed.

Back at the girls’ dorm, Lilly was about to head out with Jace’s black jacket in her arms.

“Lilly, wait up.”

Lilly paused, halfway to the door. She was planning to take Jace’s jacket to the dry cleaners. “What’s up, Ella?”

Ella held out a bright, colorful candy. “Here, have this.”

Lilly’s eyes lit up. She loved sweets. She popped the candy into her mouth, but her smile faded almost instantly. “Thanks… Oh, wait, this is so bitter.”

She tried to spit it out, but Ella gently covered her mouth. “Don’t spit it out. Sometimes the best medicine tastes the worst. Swallow it, you’ll be fine.”

Lilly had no choice but to swallow the awful candy. She looked at Ella, her expression full of suspicion. “Seriously, Ella, what was in that? Why did it taste so bad?”

Ella glanced at Lilly’s soft, pretty face, the one her birthmark always half-covered, and gave a mysterious wink. “It’s a secret. You’ll understand tomorrow.”

Lilly rolled her eyes but didn’t press further. “I’m heading out then.”

She hurried off, still making a face at the lingering bitterness.

After getting Jace’s jacket dry-cleaned, Lilly folded it neatly and put it in a bag. She made her way to his classroom, hoping to find him.

She stopped a guy in the hallway. “Excuse me, I’m looking for someone.”

He gave her a knowing look. “Let me guess, you’re here for Jace?”

Lilly had only ever heard rumors about his dad being a drug dealer. She didn’t know about his blind mom or his little sister.

“Do you know where he lives?” she asked.

“Yeah, in Alley Three.”

“Thanks.”

Lilly made up her mind to see Jace in person. On her way, she stopped at the mall and picked up some pricey health supplements, then caught a taxi to Alley Three.

Alley Three was about as poor as it got—dark, damp, and run-down. Lilly had never been anywhere like this before. She lived in Rockford Bay, in an upscale neighborhood where every square foot was worth a fortune. This place felt like a whole different world.

Balancing the fancy gift boxes, Lilly followed the address down the muddy, narrow paths. The rain from earlier had turned everything into a mess, and her skirt and little leather shoes were already streaked with dirt.

Lilly was picky about staying clean, but she pushed past the urge to stop and wipe herself off. She kept going, determined, until she finally found Jace’s house.
