The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 317

Ella finally figured out what Grandma Jill was up to. Tonight wasn’t just a family dinner. It was a setup, a blind date meant to marry her off to someone out in the countryside.

Devon looked at her, clearly not expecting Ella to be so pretty. He gave an awkward little smile. “Hello, Ms. Irvine.”

Just then, Jessa’s laugh floated in from the hallway. “Grandma, what are you all talking about?”

Ella glanced up and spotted Jessa walking in. She wasn’t alone. Her arm was linked with David’s, and he was right there by her side.

David was here too.

Grandma Jill’s face lit up with a big smile. “Mr. Harmon, Jessa, you two are just in time. Ella’s meeting someone tonight. This is Devon, her date.”

Grandma Jill nudged Devon so he was standing right next to Ella, putting them on display for everyone to see.

Maureen, who’d been in a great mood lately, couldn’t hide her smug grin. “Ella, Devon is a teacher at the local middle school. He’s got a degree, he’s educated, and he’s got a real job. Look at you. You quit school at sixteen, you don’t have a diploma or a job. Honestly, you’re lucky to have a chance with Devon. Grandma’s been worried sick about your future.”

Rachel was there too. She chimed in with a laugh. “Ella, I think Devon’s a catch. You should say yes while you can. Opportunities like this don’t come around twice.”

Jessa shot a sweet smile up at David. “David, don’t you think Ella and Devon look good together?”

David’s eyes lingered on Ella. Devon stood next to her, looking so plain with his glasses and shy smile, while Ella was striking, almost out of place in this room. David pressed his lips together, saying nothing.

Grandma Jill turned to Devon. “Devon, what do you think of Ella?”

Jessa and Maureen were considered the stars of the Irvine family, but next to this Harvard prodigy, even they couldn’t compete.

When it came to brains and degrees, the comparison just wasn’t fair. Jessa and Maureen didn’t stand a chance.

Grandma Jill let out a sigh of amazement. “I heard this Harvard girl skipped a bunch of grades and already has two master’s degrees at sixteen, just like Mr. Harmon did. She set a new record.”

Rachel’s eyes went wide. “Is there really a girl out there that talented? Someone who could actually be on the same level as Mr. Harmon?”

Ruby grinned. “I already got us invitations to the forum. We’re all going the day after tomorrow. I can’t wait to see what this genius looks like.”
