“David, let me go.”
Ella pushed him away with all the strength she had.
Desire flickered in David’s eyes as he tried to lean in for another kiss.
“David, we’re divorced. Think about Jessa!”
The name hit him like a splash of freezing water. He went still.
Ella quickly shoved him again and turned to run.
David just stood there, frozen and confused, not sure what had gotten into him. Jessa was his girlfriend. He knew he owed her loyalty.
But no matter how hard he tried, he kept getting pulled back to Ella. He couldn’t help himself around her. It felt like some kind of spell.
…
After dinner at the hot pot place, everyone made their way back to the resort hotel.
David walked with two other classmates. Up ahead, Ella was laughing at something Luke said.
“Mr. Harmon, you’re in room 621. Is that alright?” someone asked.
David’s face didn’t give anything away. “Which room is Luke in?”
“Luke has 609, right across from Ella.”
“Mr. Harmon, don’t you think Luke and Ella would make a cute couple? We should help them out, give them a chance to spend some time together,” someone suggested.
Everyone seemed eager to play matchmaker for Ella and Luke.
David pressed his lips together. “They’re not right for each other.”
The words hung in the air and the others just stared at him.
“I’d like to stay in 607,” David said calmly.
One of the guys immediately pulled out his key card. “I’m in 607. We can swap.”
Still, nothing. No response.
She just refused to add him.
David let out a short, frustrated laugh and closed his eyes, deciding to try to sleep.
A little while later, he heard the door creak open. A slender, graceful figure slipped inside.
It was Ella.
She’d just showered and wore his white shirt, her bare legs peeking out as she moved. She looked innocent and yet somehow impossibly alluring.
She climbed onto the bed and slipped under the covers with him.
David could feel her soft body pressing up against him, moving restlessly. He opened his eyes as the blanket lifted and Ella’s head popped out, her eyes sparkling as she smiled at him.
“Are you awake?”
David’s eyes snapped open, fully awake now.
