The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 355

Gina glanced at Aiden and his men. “Our village doesn’t like outsiders. They can’t come, but I can sneak you inside.”

Aiden jumped in right away. “Boss, it might be dangerous for you to go alone.”

David raised an eyebrow. “What kind of danger?”

Aiden dropped his voice to a whisper. “This girl has her eye on you. Be careful or she’ll try to keep you here as her husband.”

David shot him a cold look.

Aiden clamped his mouth shut.

David gave his orders. “Stay here. I’ll message you when I have news.”

Aiden nodded. “Got it.”

David turned to Gina. “Gina, I’ll go in with you. Thanks for helping.”

“Let’s go.”

Gina led David into the village. As he walked beside her, her heart pounded so hard she could barely breathe. “What’s your name?”

“David,” he answered.

“What do you do for work?”

“I run a company.”

“Why aren’t you married yet? What kind of girls do you like?”

David noticed the hope in her eyes and gave her a small smile. “I like girls who are kind and helpful. You brought me into the village and helped me out, Gina. You’re exactly that type.”

If David wanted to, he could charm any girl with just a few words.

Gina’s face lit up. “Of course I’ll help you, David. They’re your sister and brother, after all. Alright. We’re here.”

She stopped in front of a little hut. “They’re staying in here.”

David was already at the bedside. He took in Ella’s small, delicate face.

She looked completely drained, her body trembling as she lay there, so vulnerable.

He called softly, “Ella? Ella?”

There was no response.

That’s when he noticed the red marks on her neck. Her skin was so soft, even a brush would leave a mark.

David looked at Cedric. “Who did this?”

“It was a guy called Justin. David, you almost didn’t make it in time. Last night was awful for both of us. We barely made it.”

David gently brushed Ella’s cheek, then slipped his arms under her and lifted her up, holding her close against his chest.

In that moment, his heart felt like it might break for her.
