David could feel her small hands roaming over his body. She was moving so fast, she actually managed to pop one of his buttons right off.
He swallowed hard, his Adam’s apple shifting as he grabbed her hand. “Ella, slow down. I don’t have anything else to wear if you ruin this shirt.”
If it tore, he’d really be out of luck.
But Ella wasn’t having it. All she wanted was to get warmer, closer. She slipped her hand out of his grasp and pressed her face into his neck. “No, don’t stop… I’m freezing…”
Her voice was soft and weak from her fever, but there was a hint of a pout, almost like she was teasing him.
Of course, David knew that even when she wasn’t sick, she was good at this. Whenever they were together, she always knew how to get under his skin.
She had always been a little flirt.
But after the divorce, it had been a long time since he’d felt this way.
He tried to hold back, but he couldn’t. His hand found the buttons on her clothes, and he started to undress her.
Everything got messy in an instant. David rolled over and pinned her beneath him. He was struggling to get her clothes off, and she was just as desperately tugging at his shirt.
His white shirt was halfway off, hanging from his shoulders, showing off the strong lines of his back. There was a deep groove along his spine that looked impossibly sexy. Ella’s cold hands clung to him, searching for warmth.
David pressed his body down on hers, their skin finally touching.
It was the oldest way to get warm. Her skin was cool and smooth, his body burning with heat. When they touched, it felt like ice melting into fire.
Everything felt wild and secret.
On this old bed in a tiny village house, it was like a spark landing in a field of dry grass. Everything caught fire at once.
Ella let out a soft moan under him, as if the heat between them was too much to handle.
David glanced down at her delicate face, so small he could cup it in his hand. She was the kind of girl who drew attention everywhere she went. Even he couldn’t look away.
He held her chin gently and leaned in to kiss her.
Why was he here?
Her mind went blank for a second. She couldn’t even remember what day it was.
David’s eyes were rimmed with red. He saw her wake up, saw the confusion in her big, watery eyes. She looked so lost and innocent that he felt something twist inside him.
David leaned in again, trying to kiss her.
But Ella turned her face away, completely awake now. “David, what are you doing here? Let go of me!”
His voice was rough, barely more than a whisper. “How am I supposed to let you go like this?”
Ella’s thoughts were spinning. She remembered being stuck here with Cedric. She’d wondered if David would come.
Now he was here, but he was taking advantage of her while she was feverish and out of it.
“David, have you forgotten? We’re divorced!”
