The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 369

Ella turned to leave. David stepped in front of her, blocking her path. “Ella, don’t you have anything you want to say to me?”

She lifted her clear, steady gaze to meet his. “Say what, exactly?”

David pressed his lips together. “The fancy car. The big house. Where did they come from? Whose money are you spending?”

Ella pulled her shoulders back, standing tall. “Mr. Harmon, as long as I’m not spending your money, does it really matter? I have nothing else to say.”

She tried to walk past him, but David didn’t move. He stood there, tall and unyielding, making it impossible for her to get by.

Ella gave him a little smirk. “You’re curious, aren’t you? You and Jessa and everyone else probably think I’m just a housewife who couldn’t possibly make her own money. That I’m living off your divorce settlement.”

David did think that. Ella hadn’t had a job, after all.

“You’re smart and talented. You put your career on hold for me, so let me make it up to you. Tell me what you want to do, I’ll find you a job. Or if you want, I’ll invest in your business,” David offered.

He barely knew anything about her, aside from just learning she was some kind of prodigy. Everything else was a mystery.

Ella stared at the man in front of her. Handsome, composed, the kind of guy girls fall for. Even now, after the divorce, he was offering her money, a career, resources—anything she might want, he was ready to provide.

She shook her head. “No, thanks.”

Since he wouldn’t let her pass, Ella turned around, deciding to just head home. But then she felt his hand close tightly around her wrist. David’s strong fingers wrapped around her delicate arm, holding her in place.

The touch sent a jolt through her. Suddenly, flashes of his hands on her skin ran through her mind. She remembered the feeling of being trapped beneath him, unable to break free, completely at his mercy.

“Let go of me!” she snapped, trying to pull away, but David just pushed her gently but firmly against the wall.

She glared at him. “Mr. Harmon, if you don’t stop, I’m telling Jessa.”
