The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 405

“What’s your condition?”

“I want my father’s ashes.”

Jon’s ashes had always been with the Irvine family. Ella had asked for them before, but they never agreed.

Just hearing Jon’s name made everyone’s expression shift.

“What, am I not his real daughter? Why can’t I have my own father’s ashes? You never treated him like he was truly family, so why are you hanging onto his remains now? Fine, let’s make this simple. You can choose, either my father’s ashes or the Irvine family’s interests. Your call.”

Grandma Jill’s sharp, cloudy eyes landed on Ella. For the first time, she realized her granddaughter was nothing like the girl she used to know.

“Alright, I’ll let you have Jon’s ashes,” Grandma Jill said.

Rachel clung to Grandma Jill’s sleeve. “Mom!”

Ella caught every little movement, every nervous glance. She let out a cold laugh. “All I want is my father’s ashes. Why are you all so anxious? Unless you’ve got something to hide?”

“Shut up!” Rachel snapped. “Your father’s ashes have always been honored in the family’s ancestral hall. I just don’t want you disturbing his peace.”

Ella’s laugh was frosty and mocking. “You’re the ones disturbing his peace. You kept him trapped in this family just so he could watch his own wife sneak around with his brother and then abandon his own daughter, is that it?”

“You…” Rachel sputtered, unable to finish.

Ella looked at all of them. The Irvine mansion was bought by her father. Peter’s college tuition was paid for by her father. Logan’s first business deal turned successful because of her father. But what did they ever give back?

“All these years you’ve lived in luxury, standing on my father’s sweat and blood. Tell me, has any of you ever woken up in the middle of the night, dreaming that he came back for you?”
