The three of them clinked their glasses, laughter bubbling up between them. Just as they settled back into their seats, the restaurant doors swung open and a group of people walked in. Leading the pack was a tall, handsome man with an air of quiet confidence. David. He was here too, but not for a casual dinner—tonight, he was entertaining a few big-shot executives.
The restaurant manager greeted him with a wide smile. “Mr. Harmon, your private room is all set. Please, this way.” David followed the manager, scanning the room as he walked, and in the crowd, his eyes landed right on Ella. She looked stunning, sitting with Fiona and Lilly. The three of them were chatting away, their faces lit up with excitement as they toasted each other. Anyone could see they were having a great time.
The executives trailing behind David noticed where he was looking. One of them nudged the others and grinned. “Mr. Harmon, do you know those cute girls? They look like college students.” They all seemed pretty entertained by the idea of David checking out girls.
David didn’t react. He didn’t say if he knew them or not. “Let’s go in,” he said, cool as ever.
The manager chuckled. “There are already some pretty dancers waiting in your room. You can enjoy the show while you eat.” High-end places like this always had something extra, just to make their rich guests feel like they were living the high life.
Ella hadn’t noticed David. She stood up and stretched. “Fiona, Lilly, I’m going to the restroom.”
Fiona and Lilly jumped up right away. “We’ll come with you.”
Ella shook her head. “You really don’t have to. The restroom’s right there.”
“Nope. You’re pregnant now,” Fiona insisted. “As official godmothers, it’s our job to look after you and this little baby.”
Ella laughed, but there was no arguing with them. The three of them headed out together.
