David pulled Ella out of the restaurant, his stride so long that she had to stumble just to keep up.
She frowned. "David, let go of me."
Without a word, David swung open the door of his luxury car and nudged her into the passenger seat. He circled around and got in on the driver's side.
The Rolls-Royce Phantom shot down the rain-slick road. Ella shot him a look. "Done with dinner already? I thought the woman in the red dress might have convinced you to stay a little longer."
She honestly hadn't expected to see David at the bar. Just a moment before, he'd been watching the dancer like he hadn't had a care in the world.
David's hand, sporting an expensive watch, rested easily on the steering wheel. The city lights slid over his sharp features, highlighting his aristocratic good looks. "So you saw me?"
Ella nodded. "Yeah. I saw your fan club grow by at least three new members. Another heart lost to you, Mr. Harmon."
David let the faintest smile tug at his lips. "Funny you're focused on me. Weren’t you just having fun at that bar full of male dancers? Was it any good? If I’d been even a minute later, would you have used my card to buy yourself a few rounds with them?"
Ella rolled her eyes. This man could be impossible.
She pulled out her phone, still thinking about Lilly, and dialed her number.
The phone rang and rang. No answer.
What was Lilly up to?
David's voice cut through the silence, low and calm. "Is Lilly with Jace?"
Ella nodded. "Probably."
David didn't react, just spoke quietly. "Tell Lilly to keep her distance from Jace."
