“Mr. Harmon, it’s getting late. You can leave now,” Ella said.
David looked at her. “It’s late. Let’s get some sleep.”
Wait. Was he planning to spend the night here?
“Mr. Harmon, didn’t your assistant bring your keys yet?”
“He can’t bring them until tomorrow. So, I’ll be staying here tonight.”
“No way.”
David glanced at her. “I’m letting you know, not asking for your permission.”
Ella opened her mouth to argue, but before she could say anything, everything went dark as David kissed her again.
...
In the hospital room, Jessa kept calling David over and over, but he never picked up. She tried calling Ella too, but still, no answer. Neither of them was answering their phones. What were they doing right now?
The memory of what she’d seen on the video call flashed through her mind, and rage bubbled up inside her. She grabbed her phone and, with a loud crack, threw it so hard it shattered.
“Ella, you bitch! I’m going to kill you!”
Rachel hurried over to comfort her. “Jessa, please calm down. You can’t get this upset, not with your health.”
Jessa shoved her away. “Mom, if you really love me, then help me. Look at Ella, she’s about to steal David from me. I never should’ve let her marry him for me. I should have never let them meet.”
Rachel felt a wave of regret too. Ella was that girl from years ago. Somehow, she and David still found their way back to each other. At first, David didn’t care about Ella, but now, he only had eyes for her.
