Ella stepped into her apartment just as her phone started ringing. Wyatt’s name flashed on the screen.
She picked up. “Hey, Wyatt.”
“Ella, you’re finally awake. So, how was your night at Mr. Harmon’s place?” Wyatt’s voice was teasing, as usual.
Ella frowned. “Wait, Wyatt, why did I end up at David’s place?”
“He carried you back last night. Took you straight to his apartment. I tried to take you, but he wouldn’t let me. No way I could win that argument.”
Ella went silent for a moment. So, she must have fallen asleep in David’s car, and he carried her inside. But why would he take her to his place?
“Ella, is there something going on between you and Mr. Harmon again?”
“There’s nothing. We’re already divorced. Stuff like this isn’t going to happen anymore.”
She meant it. She and David were over, and she was going to keep her distance from now on.
“Alright then. See you tonight at the Royal Hotel. We’re having dinner with Dr. Wilson. By the way, your surprise appearance at Herbs Life last night gave him quite the scare.”
Ella nodded, even though Wyatt couldn’t see her. “Okay. See you tonight.”
…
At Harmon Corporation, David sat in his office while Aiden stood by his desk, giving his report.
“I’ve started looking into it, sir, but that cave from back then was almost impossible to find. There’s no trace left. If we want to know who saved you, we’ll have to look for answers from them directly.”
David didn’t look surprised. If there was anything to find, he would have found it years ago. That was why he’d trusted Jessa all this time.
