“Ms. Irvine, are you saying red raspberry leaf and lavender?”
“Yes, Dr. Simmons.”
“Ms. Irvine, are you pregnant?”
Pregnant?
That word hit Jessa like a punch. She stood there, gripping her phone, her mind spinning. “Dr. Simmons, what are you talking about?”
“Ms. Irvine, those herbs are used to prevent miscarriage. They’re for pregnancy.”
Pregnancy medicine? Ella was taking pregnancy medicine? Ella was pregnant?
Jessa’s mind went completely blank. She never imagined Ella could be pregnant. Sure, she knew Ella and David had been together, but David hated kids. He was the Harmon family’s eldest son, he wouldn’t be careless about something like this. He wouldn’t let Ella get pregnant.
But she was. Ella was actually pregnant.
Jessa took a shaky step back, barely catching herself with a hand on the wall. Ella was pregnant. Was the baby David’s? Or could it be Wyatt’s? Still, Jessa’s gut told her the truth. It had to be David’s.
What was she supposed to do now?
Panic started to rise in her chest.
...
As soon as she could, Jessa raced back home. The second she walked in, Rachel saw her pale face and rushed over.
“Jessa, what happened? Are you okay? Your hands are freezing.”
Rachel took Jessa’s hands in hers. They were ice-cold.
