The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 499

David sat in his study, flipping through a stack of documents. It didn’t take long before he slammed them shut with a sharp clap.

Aiden glanced over, concern written all over his face. “Are you alright?”

David’s brows drew together, deep lines forming between them. “I don’t know. My chest feels tight. I can’t seem to shake it.”

Normally, David could lose himself in work for hours, but today he just couldn’t focus. His chest felt heavy, every breath a little harder than usual. He pressed his hand over his heart. It even hurt a little, a dull ache that wouldn’t go away. It felt like something was wrong, like something bad was happening, and he couldn’t get rid of the restless feeling gnawing at him.

Aiden spoke up again. “Should I call a doctor?”

David shook his head. “No, that’s not necessary.” He went quiet for a few seconds, lost in thought. “What’s Ella doing right now?”

Aiden hesitated. “Sir, do you want to see Ms. Irvine? She lives right across the hall. I could go knock if you want.”

David didn’t answer right away. He just stared ahead, lost in his own world.

Then, a knock sounded at the door, and Jessa’s voice drifted in. “David, I made you some coffee.”

David’s voice was low. “Come in.”

Jessa walked in, carrying a mug, and set it down gently by his hand. “You’ve been working for so long. Take a break, have some coffee. I brewed it myself.”

David felt drained. He lifted the cup and took a sip, but instantly, his face tightened in discomfort.

Jessa watched his reaction. “Is something wrong?”
