The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 55

Ella finished tending to his wound and wrapped it up, but she was too late. The infection had already started to set in, and by the time they went to bed, David was burning up with a fever.

He kept shivering and said he was freezing. Ella turned up the heat and stacked blanket after blanket on him, but he still couldn’t stop shaking. Cold sweat dripped down his forehead, and his lips looked almost white.

Honestly, Ella thought he kind of deserved it. Why hadn’t he taken a second to deal with his own injury when he was so busy running Jessa to the hospital?

She gave him a shot, but knew there was nothing left to do except wait it out. He’d have to ride through the fever himself. Once it broke, he’d be okay.

Ella pulled back the covers and climbed into bed next to him.

He was freezing, almost like touching a block of ice. Ella couldn’t just leave him like that. She bit her lip, then pressed her warm body against his, hoping her heat would help.

He had his back to her. Ella was careful to avoid his injury as she reached around and hugged him from behind.

David felt her there, her soft body molding to his, her warmth slowly soaking through his clothes.

A moment later, her hand slipped over his waist and settled on his abs. Her fingers started exploring, lightly tracing over his muscles, testing, gentle.

David kept his eyes closed, his voice rough. “Ella, I’m sick.”

She knew. That’s why she had to find a way to warm him up. This was the only way she could think of.

But she wasn’t Jessa. She had no idea if this would even work on him.

Ella stayed quiet. At first her touch was shy, but she got braver, sliding her hand up to his chest, feeling the firm lines beneath her palm.

Wow, that felt good.

David could tell she was getting bolder, her hand leaving a trail of heat, teasing him even when he was sick.
