The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 54

Ella smoothed out her white shirt, then turned to glance at David.

His phone was still ringing on the nightstand, the sound echoing over and over. He didn’t even glance at it, just let it ring out. He was ignoring Jessa’s call.

That had never happened before.

David stood up, tall and effortlessly graceful, and slipped off his black suit jacket.

Underneath, his white shirt was stained across the back with a wide patch of blood. Ella’s mind flashed back to the whip his grandmother had used on him.

That single strike had broken the skin, but he hadn’t shown a hint of pain. He just took it, silent and unflinching.

That wound needed attention. If she left it, it would only get worse.

Ella said quietly. “Let me take care of your back.”

David turned to look at her, a crooked, teasing smile on his lips. “Weren’t you ignoring me just a minute ago?”

Ella bent down to pull the kit from under the bed. “I just didn’t want Grandma to worry.”

David sat down on the edge of the mattress. Ella set the kit beside him. “Take off your shirt.”

He didn’t argue. He just pulled his white shirt over his head, revealing a torso that made her heart skip a beat.

It was the first time she’d seen him like this. His shoulders were broad, his muscles lean and defined, with six neat abs that looked almost sculpted.

His body tapered into a narrow waist, his hips disappearing into black slacks, a luxury black belt sitting coolly at his waist.

He was stunning. Her face went hot in an instant. She had no idea where to look.

Then David’s smooth, teasing voice broke the silence. “Looks like we’re even now.”

Ella blinked. “Even?”

He grinned. “I saw you earlier. Now you’ve seen me.”

She shot him a look. “I did not.”

He raised an eyebrow. “Then why are you blushing?”

Ella clamped her mouth shut. Should’ve just let him deal with this himself.
