The energy in the room shot up again.
“So, which lucky Rockford Bay socialite is going to win over our Atlas? The moment of truth is here.”
Atlas got up and, with everyone watching, walked straight to Ella.
There wasn’t even a hint of hesitation. He picked Ella, clear as day.
Jessa and Maureen’s faces fell.
David sat quietly with a cocktail in hand. His expression didn’t change, but his whole vibe was icy, like he’d turned to stone.
Fiona, on the other hand, could barely contain herself. She let out a dramatic gasp. “Oh wow, don’t tell me Atlas has a thing for Ella.”
Ella looked up at Atlas, feeling awkward. She’d just ended things with David. The last thing she wanted was to jump into something new or give Atlas the wrong idea.
Atlas leaned down, his handsome face inches from hers.
“Atlas, I…” Ella started, but he cut her off with a quick wink.
“Just go with it, Ella. I need your help.”
She blinked in surprise.
“We’re playing a game, remember? You wouldn’t want me to get stuck with the punishment, right? Do it for that bottle of medicinal wine. Come on, help me out.”
Ella bit her lip, feeling trapped. Part of her wanted to say no, but she owed him for the wine. *Can I just give the wine back instead?*
Fiona started chanting, “Kiss, kiss, kiss!”
Atlas reached out and gently held Ella’s face, leaning in closer.
Closer...
Even closer...
They were right on the edge of kissing.
David watched from across the room, his fingers tightening around his glass until his knuckles went white.
Suddenly, the crowd erupted.
Atlas and Ella kissed.
