David stood tall in front of Ella, his broad shoulders blocking her way. She was caught between him and the wall, nowhere to escape. He looked down at her, a mocking smile tugging at his lips. “Ella, are you doing this on purpose?”
Ella pressed a hand against his chest, trying to push him away. “I honestly have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“Stop playing innocent.” David’s eyes grew cold, his handsome face shadowed by suspicion. “You pushed me right into Maureen’s arms.”
He had figured it out.
He knew she was using him, dragging him into her messy game to stir up trouble between Jessa and Maureen. And she had done it so easily, like it was nothing, letting him kiss another girl for three whole minutes.
Since he already saw through her, Ella dropped the act. She looked straight into his eyes, clear and unafraid. “David, Maureen is into you.”
“Her feelings are her problem, not mine. What does that have to do with me?”
Women fell for him all the time. Was he supposed to take care of every single one of them?
Ella went silent for a beat.
So he really didn’t care about Maureen. Jessa was still the only one who mattered to him.
She forced a smile. “Why are you so pissed? Jessa and Maureen are both into you. They’re practically fighting over you. Doesn’t that just prove how irresistible you are? Now let me go.”
David didn’t budge. He lowered his voice, almost whispering. “Did you forget what I told you that night? Why are you still hanging out with Atlas?”
He smirked, the look in his eyes sharp and taunting. “Are you just using Atlas to get under my skin? Is this how you get my attention?”
What was he even talking about?
Could he be any more full of himself?
“Mr. Harmon, your imagination is out of control. I don’t love you anymore.”
That was the second time she’d said it.
David’s lips curled into a cool, almost mocking sneer. He reached out, his long fingers brushing lightly, teasingly, against her cheek.
His voice dropped, deep and magnetic. “You really don’t like me anymore? So you’ve already forgotten how I kissed you at the old house, how you got so wet in my arms?”
He was trouble, and he knew it. Ella’s face went from pale to bright red in seconds. She hadn’t forgotten that night.
Ella shoved him away with everything she had. “Do you believe me now?”
She didn’t look back as she walked away.
David was left there, speechless and doubled over.

Ella made her way back to their plush booth. Jessa and Maureen were already sitting down, pretending like nothing had happened. That round of Truth or Dare was over. No one wanted to watch them fight over David anymore.
David returned to his seat too, his face stormy and impossible to read.
Ella kept her eyes away from him, acting as if the whole thing had never happened.
The third round started.
This time, the bottle landed on Cedric, while the other end pointed to Atlas.
Cedric rubbed his hands together, grinning. “Finally, it’s my turn. Atlas, you’re up for a dare. Just like Maureen earlier. Pick one of the ladies here and give her a three minute French kiss.”
