David raised an eyebrow. “She’s already offline.”
Ella’s avatar turned gray. She was gone.
Cedric let out a sigh. “David, you have to play with her next time.”
David just shrugged and glanced at Cedric. “Let’s go.”
Suddenly, Cedric snapped his fingers as if he’d remembered something important. “David, did you ever add that genius gamer girl?”
David gave him a look. “Why are you so obsessed with her?”
“Come on, she’s my idol. Of course I care.”
“We’re in the same group chat.”
Cedric’s whole face lit up. “No way. Seriously, David, add me to the group. I need to talk to her.”
Unable to hold out against Cedric’s endless begging, David pulled out his phone and added him to the chat.
Cedric’s eyes darted through the member list until he found her—E.
His idol.
He wondered why he’d ever wasted so much time playing with Ella, that so-called ugly duckling from nowhere. She’d only left him frustrated. Now, all that was gone. He felt lighter. He could barely contain how much he admired E.
Without hesitating, Cedric sent E a friend request.
“David, what should I say if she adds me? I’m actually nervous.”
David gave a small, unreadable smile. “Let’s wait and see if she adds you first.”
E hadn’t even accepted David’s own friend request yet.
Meanwhile, Ella’s phone buzzed. She glanced at the screen and saw a new request from Cedric. The note he’d left said, “Hello, my idol.”
