After ten years behind bars, Mike was itching for some fun. The moment the nightclub’s madam spotted his million-dollar check, her face lit up with delight. “Girls, we’ve got a big spender. Go entertain him.”

A parade of girls, all dressed to impress, strutted in and lined up in front of Mike. The madam beamed at him. “So, Mike, which one catches your eye?”

Mike gave them a quick look. “They’re all too old. I want someone younger. The younger, the better.”

The madam tried to keep her smile. “Mike, these girls are only twenty. That’s pretty young.”

Mike’s eyes glinted with something unsettling as he licked his lips. “I mean younger than that.”

The madam’s smile faltered. Was he really that depraved? She wondered if he was the kind of man who liked children. The thought sent a chill down her spine.

Before anyone could say more, the VIP room door burst open with a loud bang. Mike looked up. Ella had arrived.

The madam’s eyes widened in surprise. “Well, hello there, little beauty. Who are you looking for, sweetheart?”

Ella didn’t even glance at her. Her gaze was icy, locked on Mike as she held out her palm. “Hand over the check.”

Mike grinned, his eyes roaming over Ella’s delicate, stunning features and her figure that put all the other women to shame. Compared to her, the other girls looked cheap and boring. He lost all interest in them instantly.

He waved the check in the air, smirking. “Ella, you’re here. This check is your husband’s gift. I’m your foster father, after all. Isn’t it normal for you two to give me a little spending money?”

The greed and sleaze on his face made Ella want to throw up. She stepped forward and reached for the check.

Mike’s smile vanished. “You little brat, do you really think you’re some kind of rich man’s wife now?”

He lunged, grabbing for her hair, ready to put her in her place.

But Ella was faster. A long, thin silver needle flashed out of her hand, stabbing straight through his palm.
