The Paper Wife’s Empire novel Chapter 327

Ethan’s blunt words made Ramona’s ears burn. She had no idea who had bought her these lingerie sets; they had simply appeared in her drawer after Ethan had someone organize her closet a few times. They were… daring. She had wondered if Florence or Shelby was responsible, but they were both so proper, it seemed unlikely they would meddle in her and Ethan’s romantic life. Now, it seemed, Ethan himself had a particular taste. No wonder he always picked one of these sets whenever he brought her things to wear after her shower. She was always the one to change back into something more modest. She was too embarrassed to even wear them around the house.

But seeing the pleading look in his eyes, she relented. They compromised, agreeing to pack just one of the more adventurous sets.

Ramona turned her head, her cheeks flushed as she muttered, “Ethan, you’re… you’re really a pervert.”

“Am I?”

The comment didn’t seem to bother him in the slightest. He watched as the lingerie set was finally placed in the suitcase and said gravely, “It’s in a man’s nature.”

Ramona was speechless. “What have I gotten myself into? They say people change after marriage, and they weren’t kidding!”

The results from Ethan’s scans were back. They showed that the internal bruising had mostly healed, and his muscles and bones were fine. There was, however, a small, indistinct shadow near his stomach. The doctor had already discussed it with Ethan; it was likely just a lingering bruise, but to be safe, they wanted to run more comprehensive tests. Ethan had kept this information from Ramona, instructing the doctor not to mention it either. The report he showed her indicated a full recovery, giving her no cause for concern.

Still, Ramona was worried. She questioned the doctors repeatedly, only relaxing after several of them confirmed that Ethan’s recovery was progressing well and that with continued rest, he would be fine.

After leaving the hospital, Ash drove them to the airport. Ethan had chartered a private jet that morning, and it was now ready for departure. Before boarding, Ramona double-checked the medication prescribed for him.

Ash brought them a light meal to eat on the plane. Ethan opened a bottle of vintage champagne to go with it, but when Ramona saw him pour two glasses, she quickly claimed both.

“You’re on medication. No alcohol.”

Ethan smiled. “Whatever my dear wife says.”

“Flatterer,” she said, a pleased smile on her face as she took a small sip of champagne.

Ethan’s eyes were fixed on her. “Does flattery earn me a reward?”
