The Heir And The Servent Started From A Bet novel Chapter 111

Chapter 111

Mia tried to keep her head up, her posture tall, even though her heart was hammering in her chest.

God she’s already regretting even coming. Was this a good idea at all. Everyone is going to know about her and Alex.

The red carpet stretched out in front of her like something from a movie. Bright camera flashes lit up the evening like lightning, and the air buzzed with elegant laughter, perfume, and the hum of whispered gossip. She gripped Alex’s hand just a little tighter.

She smiled, but her eyes darted around nervously. Everything looked so big, so polished, so… unreal.

Alex looked down at her, noticing the slight tremble in her fingers. “You okay?” he asked softly, leaning a little closer to her ear so she could hear him over the murmurs and clicking cameras.

Mia nodded quickly, her smile widening even though it didn’t quite reach her eyes yet. “This is just…” She paused, her eyes soaking in the sight. “This is the first time I’ve ever walked a red carpet.”

Alex grinned, pride flickering across his face as he watched her. She was doing her best to be brave, to keep up. That’s what he loved about her. She never pretended to be what she wasn’t-never faked knowing this world. She just showed up, heart pounding, hands shaking… and she still smiled.

“You’re doing perfect,” he said, and Mia gave a tiny laugh, trying to steady herself.

The moment they entered the main hall, Mia stopped in her tracks.

Her breath caught in her throat.

It was like walking into a dream. The ceiling sparkled like stars were trapped in the chandeliers. The walls shone with soft golden lights, and every table was perfectly set, glimmering like glass.

A small fountain was blinking in the center of the room, surrounded by flower arrangements that probably cost more than her entire existence.

Eww I’m priceless. She tells herself

“This… this is the most beautiful, expensive place I’ve ever stepped foot in,” she whispered, barely able to believe her own

voice.

Almost all the men and women were dressed in white. Elegant, ethereal, as if heaven had opened up and spilled its angels into the room. Women in sleek gowns with diamonds in their hair, men in tailored suits that screamed wealth. And there she stood in a dress that had taken three people to zip her into, next to the most dangerously beautiful man in the room.

She glanced down at her gown, then at Alex’s all-black suit, confusion sweeping across her face.

Alex chuckled beside her, catching the puzzled frown she wore like a question mark.

“There’s a reason it’s called the Unicorn Party,” he said, voice low and amused. “They’re in theme.”

Mia tilted her head. “Why are we not wearing white?”

Alex handed her a drink, already prepared with two in his hand. “Because we’re not single,” he said simply. “This party—it’s a tradition in Willowcrest. It’s for the rich to stay connected, especially through marriage. Think of it as a perfectly elegant dating marketplace.”

Mia blinked.

“Oh she let out.

“People in white are available,” Alex explained, sipping his drink. “They’re here to find a partner. Someone of equal status. It’s not just a party, it’s matchmaking in disguise.”

Mia’s mouth parted in surprise. All these years hearing whispers of the unicorn party, she thought it was just a fancy celebration. She didn’t know it had layers. Secrets. A hidden purpose.

“I had no idea,” she said softly, a little embarrassed.

Alex smiled, nudging her gently. “Thought you knew everything about the Unicorn Party?”

Mia pouted at him, narrowing her eyes playfully.

“Don’t make me kiss you, Turner.”

Mia flushed instantly.

Alex threw his head back laughing, and the sound made her heart dance. He looked down at her like she’d just given him life, warmth twinkling in his eyes.

He reached for her hand, lacing their fingers together as they walked deeper into the glowing room.

It didn’t take long before they were surrounded.

People from every corner of the world seemed to know Alex. His name echoed in every language. Men slapped his back, women leaned in a little too closely when they spoke.

Mia stood beside him like a well-dressed outsider, smiling politely while not understanding half of what was being said.

Then Alex spoke fluent French, and Mia nearly melted on the spot.

She wasn’t even subtle about it-her eyes widened, her mouth slightly opened. Her gaze raked over him like she was seeing him for the first time. The sound of him speaking another language so confidently, so smoothly, made her stomach flutter.

Alex caught her staring. He gave her a cheeky wink.

She didn’t even look away. Just smiled and sipped her drink like her insides weren’t melting.

But she also saw it then-his friends, the ones who had come to say hello. They were staring too. Not at Alex, but at her. There was confusion on their faces. She wasn’t Zoe. And it was clear where their confusion came from.

She wondered if Zoe was somewhere in the room, watching. Judging.

Before she could spiral, two men approached them-Lucas and Sammy. Both dressed in white, both looking as expensive as the party itself.

Mia froze the second her eyes landed on Lucas.

Her fingers went cold.

Alex noticed her body stiffen and glanced at her with concern. “You okay?”

She nodded quickly. Too quickly.

She hadn’t told him. She should have. She really should’ve. But how do you bring something like that up? She didn’t want to

be the reason two long-time friends fought. She didn’t want to be the girl who caused tension in a world already full of it.

Lucas reached for her hand.

Then Sammy did too.

They kissed the back of her hand, almost too rehearsed, and Mia was too stunned to pull away. Since when did they act like gentlemen towards her?
