The Heir And The Servent Started From A Bet novel Chapter 113

Chapter 113

The entire evening, Mia had been scanning the crowd, her eyes flicking from one group of glittering strangers to the next, hoping, searching. But there was no sign of her. No flash of her sister’s curly ponytail.

“Where the hell is lily” Mia murmured to herself, adjusting the delicate strap of her dress. Her heels were starting to bite at her ankles, and the weight of the evening….

For someone who had been talking about the unicorn party for months, her sister’s absence was strange. Suspicious, even. Had Lily lied about getting an invite?

No, impossible.

“You look exhausted,” Alex said softly, appearing by her side like he always did-when she needed him the most. “We don’t have to stay till it ends, or for the after-party.”

Mia gave him a tired smile. “I really want to be done with this,” she admitted, rubbing the back of her neck.

“What about you?” she asked, tilting her head slightly to meet his eyes.

Alex smiled, brushing a finger gently across her cheek. “Trust me. I’d rather be snuggled up in bed with you than be here.”

The way he said it-warm, low, honest-made her chest tighten in the softest way.

“Let’s go then,” she whispered.

“Good.”

He took her hand without hesitation, threading his fingers through hers, warm and secure. As they headed toward the exit, she felt her shoulder relax instantly.

Something immediately caught Mia’s eye.

She stopped.

Her breath hitched as she stared across the small crowd gathered near the entrance.

No way.

Her heart stuttered in her chest.

“Are you okay?” Alex asked, noticing how her body had gone rigid beside him.

Mia didn’t answer right away. She stepped forward instead, her eyes locked on the girl standing by the corner. The girl was arguing quietly with a man in a black suit-security, by the looks of it. ·

“Lily?” she called, her voice uncertain.

The girl turned slowly. Her expression was confused, her eyebrows furrowed.

Then her eyes widened.

“Do I know y-” she paused, blinking fast. “Mia?”

Mia nodded.

“What the-?” Lily stared, her mouth falling open as her gaze swept over Mia’s dress, then flicked to Alex, and back to her sister’s face. “What are you doing here?”

“What else?” Mia shrugged, smiling. “The unicorn party.”

Lili’s brows furrowed, her lips parting in disbelief. “But-” she started, clearly struggling to understand. It was almost funny.

Lily had been the one parading around for months about the golden invite. About how this party would change her life. She had bought her dress two months ago and wouldn’t stop twirling in it at home like she was preparing for a royal coronation.

So what is she doing outside?

Before Mia could ask, a voice cut through the moment like a cold knife.

“What are you still doing here?”

They all turned,

A tall security guard had stepped forward, his tone firm, pointing directly at Lily.

“Mr. Blackwell, is she bothering you?” he asked, his tone suddenly respectful as he looked toward Alex and bowed slightly.

Lili’s eyes went wide. Her lips parted, but no sound came out.

Mia turned slowly to Alex, then back at her sister. “What’s going on?”

Alex’s face creased in concern. “What happened?” he asked the guard.

“She brought a forged invitation and has refused to leave,” the guard explained matter-of-factly, his finger still aimed like an accusation.

Mia felt like someone had punched the wind out of her.

“Forged?” she repeated, stunned.

No. That couldn’t be true. Their mother had given Lily that invitation. Or so they thought. Could it really have been fake all along?

“She duplicated the original one,” the guard added, as if to erase any doubt.

Lily looked down, scratching the back of her head awkwardly. Her face burned with shame, and she refused to meet Mia’s

eyes.

The silence was thick. Mia’s thoughts were spinning. All those months of Lily going on and on about the party, about finally getting her break. About rich men and glowing up and finding her ticket out of their life.

Someone was lying, did their mom even verify the invitation?

She stares at her sister, Lily wanted to be here for the rich men.

This was never about the experience. The plan was…..

Land a rich boyfriend. Or, even better, a husband.

Mia should walk away.

She should just grab Alex’s hand and leave. Let Lily deal with whatever this is. That would’ve been the right thing to do, probably. Maybe even the smart thing.

She stared at Lily.

She saw the way her sister’s shoulders trembled just a little. The way she bit her bottom lip and tried to keep her chin up.

She saw the hours Lily had poured into her dress, the way she’d talked about this party like a dream, her ticket, her escape. And now it was all crashing down in front of her.

It would’ve been easy to walk away.

But Lily is her sister.
