The Heir And The Servent Started From A Bet novel Chapter 145

Chapter 145

Alex, his mom, and Jullian were having dinner together, seated around a large dining table.

Alex was looking at his family and seeing something he has not seen before, happiness. Real, simple, unforced happiness. There were no fake smiles or heavy silences. Just peace.

Jullian was eating with such ease, his shoulders relaxed. His mom had a glow on her face that he had not seen since he was a kid.

It felt good.

The clinking of cutlery filled the soft pauses in their conversations. Nothing felt forced. It felt peaceful, like how it should have always been.

Alex couldn’t help but feel a small knot in his chest, realizing how they never lived as a real family, like being so free and laughing around a table without worrying about what Charles Blackwell is planning to hurt them with next.

“I think I really like the facility,” Jullian said, biting into a piece of meat, his mouth half full as he tried not to speak too loudly.

Alex smiled faintly. Earlier today, the three of them had driven out together to see the rehabilitation facility where Jullian would be staying.

Alex had gone ahead to secure the best place he could find. It wasn’t just about helping Jullian stay clean,it was about giving him the kind of chance he never had before.

The kind of place that didn’t feel like punishment, but like hope.

“I did too,” their mom added, her eyes resting on Jullian. “It has to be the best in the world. You must have spent a lot on that.”

Alex shrugged lightly, eyes briefly shifting to the screen of his phone. A notification popped up reminding him of the investor meeting scheduled for tomorrow. It was important, but right now, this moment with his family mattered too.

“It was nothing though,” he said casually, brushing it off.

But it wasn’t nothing though. Not really. It had cost him a lot of money.

But seeing his brother sitting here, smiling, hopeful for once… it was worth every single thing.

His mom turned to him with soft eyes. “Thank you, Alexander.”

Alex nodded, acknowledging her words with a small smile. The sound of his phone beeping again distracted him for a second. He reached for it but didn’t unlock it. He set it aside instead.

Then his mother spoke again, her voice calm but sure.

“Also, son… I’d like a position in your company.”

The room went quiet.

Alex raised his head. Jullian paused mid-chew, then slowly turned to look at her, a brow raised.

“Mom, you want to work?” Jullian asked, a little surprised, trying to hide the tiny smirk that played at the corner of his

mouth.

Chapter 145

His mom sat straighter in her seat, smiling like she had just been waiting for the question. “You do know I used to handle my father’s company before my brother took over,” she said, her voice touched with pride and a little nostalgia.

Alex already knew this. His mother came from wealth. Real wealth. Old money. The kind of wealth that held names and buildings. But they had never really been close to her side of the family.

Those people weren’t much different from Charles Blackwell.

Still, Alex knew his mother was sharp. She wasn’t just someone who came from money, she had earned her way through responsibility, running things with order and structure before her life took a different turn.

He leaned back in his chair, studying her face.

There was something different about her tonight. She looked lighter. Almost like a part of her had come back. The part that used to hold her head high. The part that used to smile without fear.

He smiled.

“So what post would you like to handle, Mom?”

“I don’t know,” she said, grinning like a young girl again. “Maybe something in the management team or advertisement? I’m pretty good at that.”

His mom sounded so happy. It was like seeing a different version of her.

He didn’t have to think too hard about it.

His company was coming together faster than he expected. He had people. He had clients. He had vision. A permanent site was still in the works, but for now, the office they had could work. It wasn’t his dream office, but it was something to build from. Something real. Something his mom could be a part of.

And if his mom wanted to work again, to feel like herself again, then there was no way he was going to deny her that.

“Okay,” he said simply.

His mom’s eyes lit up. Her lips parted slightly, almost in disbelief. “Really?”

Alex nodded. “Really.”

She reached across the table, her hand touching his gently. It was a small gesture, but it said everything. It said thank you. It said I’m proud of you.

Alex looked over at Jullian, who was smiling softly as he watched the two of them. There was peace in his eyes too. Something he’s not sure he has ever seen in his brother’s eyes before…

The rest of dinner was quiet in the best way. No tension. No drama. Just quiet moments and soft laughter, filled with things unsaid but deeply felt.

Later, as they cleared the table together, Alex couldn’t help but think about how far they had come.

Alex was in his room, sitting on the edge of the bed, his elbows resting on his knees, and his eyes glued to the window.

He didn’t know why he kept staring at the night sky, maybe because somehow, in moments like this, he missed her more.

Chapter 145

Mia.

He closed his eyes and let out a breath. Tuner

The disappearance of the Turners still didn’t make sense. It was like they had vanished into thin air. One moment, they were there, and the next, gone.

Neighbors said they packed up and left just like that.

Everything pointed towards them planning their moving from Willowcrest.

Mia had planned to leave Willowcrest when she told him she would see him the next day.

Yet his heart refused to believe that.

He stood up, walked toward the window, and leaned his head against the glass.

He could still hear her laugh sometimes when he closed his eyes. Still remember how her eyes softened when she looked at him like he was her world.
