Chapter 148
Alex shakes hands with the investors he just convinced to invest in his new company.
“To more money,” Mr. Kian says with a confident grin, lifting his glass.
“To more money,” the others echo
Alex smiles, a real deep smile that reaches his eyes. He lets out a quiet breath he didn’t know he was holding.
This….this moment means everything. His chest feels lighter, like the weight he’s carried for so long is slowly lifting off him
This was a huge step for him. It wasn’t just about money or success. This was personal. His company was finally getting launched.
This was a new beginning, a fresh start to do what he had always dreamed of since he was just a teenager locked up in his room, sketching characters, building levels, creating stories and worlds that let him escape the real one.
Building and launching games had always been his passion, the one thing apart from boxing that he enjoyed doing.
Now he was finally doing it for himself.
Walking away from a billion-dollar empire wasn’t something just anyone could do. It came with consequences.
But Alex did it. He walked away. And not just from the money or the company. He walked away from everything his father represented….. Fear, manipulation, silence.
He left it all behind.
And
now, standing here, surrounded by people who believe in him,not his last name, not his inheritance, not his status…but him… it felt good. It felt real.
His phone buzzed in his pocket. He glanced at it. A message from the rehab center.
*Your brother completed his first week. Progressing well.*
Alex smiled to himself.
His brother was recovering. Jullian is finally getting the help he needs.
And their mom…his sweet, quiet mother, she had signed up for a course.
A course.
Alex still couldn’t believe it.
She had given up so much of herself over the years. Played the perfect wife. The perfect trophy. Always quiet, always polite, always in the background.
But now? She was blooming. Said she wanted to sharpen her brain a bit, so she can assist him in the company later.
Something she didn’t need to stress herself for.
But his mom said she wanted to do something that made her feel alive again.

And Auca w supp
book, whatever she wanted, he was behind her.
She had sacrificed too much for too long.
Now it was her turn.
She was still technically married to Charles, but that would be dealt with in time. For now, she was free. She was laughing more. Smiling more. Wearing her hair down, wearing clothes she wants.
No Charles Blackwell to police her every action or hurt her when her son doesn’t do what he wants.
Speaking of Charles Blackwell?
By now, he had definitely noticed.
He must be going insane.
Alex was under the protection of powerful men here. Men who didn’t owe his father anything. Men who saw Charles for who he truly was, and wanted nothing to do with him.
So Alex was safe. For now.
But that wasn’t enough. Not for long.
Because Alex had bigger plans.
He wasn’t just running. He was building.
Little by little, piece by piece, he was creating something that would make him powerful and untouchable.
Not because of who his father is. Not because of any inheritance. But because of him alone.
Soon, he wouldn’t need anyone to protect him.
Soon, he would be untouchable.
For now, he just had to survive long enough to become that man.
The man who built his dreams from the ground up.
The man who protected his family.
The man who broke a cycle that had gone on for far too long.
He stood there in the quiet, the echo of laughter still ringing in the hall as the investors made their way out.
He looked around the empty conference room.
His heart thudded in his chest, not from fear-but from determination.
This was just the beginning.”
And he was ready.
He was really, truly ready.

Mia and her family finally paid for the five-bedroom apartment.
Signing the final paperwork didn’t just feel like scaling a deal,it felt like sealing a new beginning.
A quiet kind of peace had settled over all of them.
This place was theirs. Their new home.
It was the first time in a long time they could all breathe without waiting for the next disaster.
After paying for the house, they went shopping. They bought clothes, shoes, phones……
They needed a lot for the new house, and Ethan surprisingly took charge. He handled buying a couch, some kitchen utensils, and even a new TV.
Apparently, their brother had more saved than any of them knew.
“Where have you been keeping all this money, drug lord” Lily joked one evening as he carried in a blender.
“Shut up and be grateful Lily” he replied casually.
They all joined in to make the house feel like home. They got curtains that matched the walls. Beds that didn’t creak or fall apart. Mattresses that weren’t secondhand. New plates, new cups. Rugs. Towels. Pots and pans. Spoons and forks. Even silly little things like throw pillows and bathroom mats.
For once, everything wasn’t mismatched or borrowed. It was theirs.
Mia took her own money and went wild. Not recklessly, but freely. She bought clothes for school, toiletries, a few notebooks, and even allowed herself to pick up some jewelry. It felt weird. Good weird.
When she saw her account balance after shopping, she smiled. She tries her best not to think about who made half of it possible.
It gets harder and harder everyday but Mia has to keep trying, she can’t risk her family again and the life they are trying to build here.
The ride back is her trying to fix her thoughts on her shopping today.
She went a little overboard than she has ever done for herself.
For the first time in forever, she wasn’t scared of going broke after spending money. That feeling alone was priceless.
She caught herself dancing while folding her new clothes that night. Soft music played from her new phone.
She was happy. At least she is trying to be.
Their new house was lovely. The air felt like it was filled with possibilities.
