The Heir And The Servent Started From A Bet novel Chapter 154

Chapter 154

“Mia, you’re getting rid of it, right?”

Mia didn’t blink. She didn’t flinch. She just looked straight into Ann’s eyes and said the words that had been sitting heavy in her chest for days.

“I’m keeping it.”

The room fell into silence.

Ann let out a sound that was somewhere between a scoff and a laugh, full of disbelief. “What?” She blinked, as if Mia had just announced she was moving to Jupiter. Then, louder, sharper, “Are you insane?” She says

“Ann,” their mother cut in, her voice sharp but tired. “Let’s just calm down, okay?”

Ann threw her hands up in frustration. “Calm down? Did you just hear what she said?”

Lily leaned forward, her brows furrowed in confusion. “You want to keep it? What about school?”

Mia took in a long breath and moved to sit on the nearest chair. Her fingers fiddled with the hem of her top for a second before she spoke.

“I’ve thought about this over and over again,” she said. Her voice trembled, but she held her gaze steady. “I’ve done some research, watched videos, read about women who made it work. It won’t be easy, but I can do it. I have to do it.”

The silence that followed was heavy. No one looked away from her, but no one said anything either. They were processing it

Ethan was the first to break the silence. “Is this really what you want, Mia? Because it’s going to be hell.”

She nodded slowly. “It’s what I want.”

Ann shook her head, letting out a dry laugh. “You have no idea what you want to get yourself into. This is not a movie. This is real life, Mia. A baby? At your age? While in school?” She turned to their mom. “Mom?”

Their mom was quiet for a second, then softly she said, “Ann, I believe this is Mia’s decision to make. What we can do as a family is support her.”

Ann looked at her like she’d lost her mind. “Yeah, support her when she’s doing something that makes sense. Not when she’s about to destroy her entire future.”

“It’s not destroying anything,” Mia whispered, but even she wasn’t sure if she believed it fully.

Ann stood and paced, her arms crossed tightly over her chest. “Plus, this could drag that monster to us,” she muttered darkly.

“I won’t be telling Alex,” Mia said quickly. “He won’t know about this.”

Lily tilted her head. “And when the child grows up and starts asking about their father? What do you say then? You haven’t thought that far, have you?”

Mia stayed quiet. No, she hadn’t.

Lily let out a bitter laugh. “God, I hope I’m far away when Charles Blackwell finds out. He’ll finally have the perfect reason to wipe us all off the surface of the earth.”

“Stop it. All of you,” their mom snapped. Her voice wasn’t loud, but it cut through the tension.

Mia cleared her throat and tried to keep her voice from cracking. “I’ve already made up my mind. I’m trying to find a place close to campus. Somewhere I can stay since the dorms won’t be comfortable. I’ll be leaving in a few days…

Ann abruptly stood up, her chair screeching loudly. “Count me out of this.”

Mia has no idea why she is that angry.

She has made up her mind though. It’s her life after all.

Someone knocked on her door.

Mia blinked up from where she sat on her bed.

She slowly stood up, her legs feeling a little weak. The knock came again, a little softer this time, and she knew who it was before she even reached the door.

When she opened it, Ethan stood there with his hands in his hoodie pockets, looking unsure.

“Hey,” he said quietly.

“Sup,” Mia replied, her voice low but steady.

Ethan gave her a small smile, then looked her over like he was trying to figure out if she was okay just by staring hard enough. “How are you feeling?”

“I’m okay,” she said, and then opened the door wider for him. “You can come in.”

Ethan stepped inside and glanced around, like he wasn’t sure where to sit even though he’s entered this room more than the other’s room. Finally, he sat on the edge of her bed, and Mia sat down next to him, leaving a little space between them.

There was a beat of silence. Ethan looked like he wanted to say something, but couldn’t quite start. Mia watched as his eyes briefly flicked to her stomach.

She noticed.

She let out a short, amused breath and shook her head. “Stop acting weird.”

Ethan rubbed the back of his neck, suddenly sheepish. “Shut up,” he muttered, clearly embarrassed to be caught.

Mia chuckled softly. She appreciated that he didn’t pretend like everything was fine. In some strange way, that awkward glance of his made her feel less awkward with everything.

“You really want to keep it?” Ethan asked after a moment, his tone gentle. He wasn’t accusing her, just asking, like he wanted to understand.

Mia nodded. “I really do. I can’t hurt it.”

Her voice cracked slightly as she said it, but she didn’t look away.

Ethan was quiet for a long second, then sighed. “Do you even have any idea what you’re doing?”

His question wasn’t cruel. It was more like a worried brother who had run out of ways to say “this is crazy” without breaking her spirit.

He gave her a small, sad smile, the kind that said he knew she was trying her best.

Mia looked down at her hands. Her fingers curled together in her lap, and she let out a shaky little laugh. “I don’t know,” she admitted.

And she meant it.

She really had no idea what she was doing. She just knew that when she pictured not having the baby, something inside her broke in a way she couldn’t fix. There was this tiny life inside her now, and the thought of ending it made her sick. She had not expected to feel that way. She had not even wanted to feel that way. But she did.

Ethan watched her for a while. Then he leaned back slightly, still staring at her like he was weighing something heavy.

“I’ll move with you,” he said.

Mia blinked, confused. “What?”

“I did some research,” Ethan said, shrugging a little, like it wasn’t a big deal. “I Looked into the area where your school is. It actually seems like a cool place to start my tattoo shop. We could get a bigger apartment together. That way you won’t be alone.”
