IRIS.
“Are you saying the Alpha is single?” My heart began to drum erratically after I asked this question.
“Well, if you’re not his girlfriend, then yes, the Alpha is single.” Delta Liam answered.
“What happened to Felicity? Did he leave her? Did he cheat on her? Or got tired of her?”
“Whoah, whoah!” He was exclaiming, but I didn’t let him cut me off.
“But aren’t they fated mates? I was told the bond is so strong it was impossible to break.” I had so many questions. “So how could they just break up?”
“Wow! I was sure Roman told me you barely talk. Did some spirit possess you?” He asked, looking at me through the rearview mirror with an amused expression on his face.
I didn’t answer and eased back in my seat.
“Are you interested in the Alpha?” He asked.
I remained quiet. I wasn’t sure how to answer that.
“If you think you’ll become the Luna of this pack, think again. Even with his own fated mate, the union didn’t happen. So save yourself from heartbreaks.”
“I didn’t say I wanted to,” I told him, but in reality, his words struck my heart. He was right. Alpha Draco would never see me as his Luna. I would just be a plaything, like I’d always been.
“Don’t expect anything. Besides, there’s another woman who wanted to stake that claim after Felicity left.”
“Who?” I asked, my forehead creased, not liking where this conversation was going.
“I’m sure you’ll meet her soon. Once the Alpha is home, she always slithers her way inside.”
“Does she also live in the Alpha’s house?”
“You’re not listening, are you? I mentioned you’re the only woman Alpha Draco invited to stay in his house, except for Felicity, of course.”
“So, are they dating?”
“You’re jealous.” He chuckled. “Draco will kill me for talking too much.”
I swallowed as fear crossed my chest. “Did he kill his former Delta?”
His laughter rang in the air, and it was deafening. I had no idea how to react to it. “Do you think he’ll kill me?”
“Stop making fun of me, please,” I said in a really low voice.
He scratched his head. “My apologies, Miss Iris. I usually drive around grumpy men, so this is something new to me. But to answer your question, I don’t think he’ll kill me. I’m his only living relative on his mother’s side. And he loved her.”
“Loved her? Is she not around anymore?”
