IRIS.
“Is there anything wrong?” I repeated as I stopped before them.
“Miss Iris, she’s looking for the Alpha. I told her he’s not home.” The maid replied.
“I know you’re going to back up her lies.” Tricia sneered. “His car is in the parking lot. Draco never goes around without that car, so I’m sure he’s here.”
My eyebrows hiked up hearing her call him by his first name again. “He’s not here,” I said sharply.
“I told her that it was you who used that black car yesterday when you and Delta Liam went to the city.” The maid added.
It wasn’t until then that it dawned on me that the black car that drove me around yesterday was his personal car. He let me use it. And that he didn’t spend the night with her, or she wouldn’t be here hunting him.
It was enough to boost my confidence.
“That’s true. The Alpha is using a different car.” I said, although I had no idea what car he used. “He’s not here, but I can always take a message.”
“Who are you?” She asked.
Instead of answering her, I turned to the helper beside me and reached for her shoulder. “You can leave us. I can handle this.”
“Yes, Miss Iris.”
My gaze followed her as she walked away and toward the kitchen. I also saw Janice still in the same place where I left her, looking at us.
“I think it’s none of your business to know who I am. The Alpha is not here. If you would rather not leave a message, then I suggest you come back some other time.” I told her once we were alone.
“Are you what? His cousin? Niece?”
I forced a chuckle. “I’m sure if he were my cousin or relative, I would never let him inside that fitting room while I tried on skimpy lingerie.”
“Just because his attention is on you doesn’t mean you’ll be here forever.” She scoffed at me, and that smug smirk was back on her face as she looked at me from head to toe. “Even his own fated mate didn’t last long here.”
“I’m not going to argue with that. But the fact that I am standing inside his home and you’re outside only means one thing: whatever we have at the moment is greater than what you have with him.”
Her hand raised, and I’d seen this too many times with Constantine’s mistresses. With them, I just let them reach my hair and pull it, but I wasn’t letting her this time.
I stepped back so abruptly that she caught air. She was about to grab me again when someone cleared his throat from behind her.
“What’s going on here?” Delta Liam’s voice came, and my heartbeat slowed down. I wanted to believe the Delta would be on my side.
“Please tell Miss Tricia the Alpha is not here and she should leave.” I didn’t wait for the Delta’s reply because I had already turned around.
“Let’s go, Miss Tricia.” Delta Liam said.
“Aren’t you an arrogant bitch! You don’t have the authority to order people around in this place. I’m sure before you know it, you’ll be out of here! Like everyone else!”
