And then Felicity left.

My own fated mate left me for someone greater. I could give her a Luna title, but Prince Esmond could give her a Royal one. How could I fight against that?

I held on to the hope that the bond between us was stronger than her dream of being a princess.

I fought for her.

Only for her to shatter what was left of the hope in my life and choose him.

Again, I was back to being alone.

After she left, I told myself one more time that I would never give anyone the power over me. I realized no woman was worth fucking my brain. That they existed simply to be fucked.

I was doing well in that department. I fucked and forgot about them.

Then Iris showed up. She was supposed to be just like the others. A one-time fuck.

I was still trying to justify why I took her home, especially knowing she was the sister of the only woman who broke my heart.

I kept telling myself I could gain something from her. That I could use her to my advantage. But I also knew fully well that she could just stand there, and I would still think she was worth all the trouble I went through to take her home with me.

Within the last forty hours, she was all I could think about.

Iris was turning into a madness I needed to control.

My phone suddenly rang, snapping me from deep thoughts. I had just finished my evening meeting, and I was already in my car.

“What happened?” I asked as soon as I answered the phone. It was Roman at the other end of the line.

“Alpha, first, I have checked my email, and the Royal House refused to add another guest with us. They said the invitation was strictly for you and me.”

“Fuckers…” I growled.

“Maybe we should call Alpha Kael and …”

“Enough,” I cut him off. The last thing I wanted was to call Kael and ask for his help because, let’s face it, I had already lowered my fucking pride to apologize, and I would not ask him any more favors even if it was his own wedding. “What happened to what I asked you to retrieve…”

“Alpha, that’s another thing. There were many police officers around his home…”
