Chapter 614 RedHanded

Finished

The door creaked open, and two figures entered the room. At the front was the rotund manager of Workshop One, his expression smug and selfassured. Behind him trailed his most trusted team leader.

We’ll get the dirt on Sage sooner or later, the leader sneered. Once we’ve got proof, he won’t know what

hit him.

The manager gave a short laugh before adding, The board’s meeting soon to elect a new general manager. Until then, keep everything spotless. No mistakes. If I climb that ladder, the chair beneath me becomes. yours.

Midsentence, he stripped off his jacket and flung it casually onto the rack beside himcompletely oblivious to Theresa standing there in the shadows, treating her like part of the furniture.

Yes, sir! I’ll take care of itconsider it done!the leader replied.

What about that b*stard Sage? Any movement?

No, sir. He’s been locked in his office all day.

While the two men talked, Theresa stood motionless in the corner, pretending to blend in with the shadows. Her eyes, however, were fixed on the open diary resting in her hands.

What a stunning womand*mn, what a waste. Shame I couldn’t have a little fun before that fool from Workshop Two barged in with his socalled official notice. Always flashing his orders like he’s someone important. He’s not even the general manager, just a puffedup errand boy.’

Pity about that woman, though. They dragged her away before I could enjoy the view. Only managed to brush her hand oncesoft as silk. Wouldn’t have minded holding on a bit longer. Oh, and there’s a new recruit, too. No idea if he’s the friendly type, but maybe I’ll send over a small gift. Could be usefulmight even help me find a few more pretty faces outside.

That was the last note on that page; the rest tacked back to Sage. Theresa’s eyes snagged on the order from Workshop Twothey’d been the ones given the directive about Tania! On the other side, the fat manager leaned in. So, is the stash in place?

Yeah, the leader replied. I paid off a guard, fried the cameras, and shoved the goods under their security booth. We’ll nab them redhanded. Sage’s the operations managerhe can’t weasel out of this. And this load? It’s worth way more than last time he snitched on you. This’ll ruin him!

Good. Keep watch. Once that shipment moves, we move on them!the manager exclaimed.

On it.” The leader rose and headed for the door. Theresa slid the notebook back into the drawer right where the fat manager could see it, then trailed the leader out the door.

She gave the slimy manager a long, hard lookthe same man who’d rifled through the diary and was already jotting notes again. The idea that he had ogled her aunt made her blood boilhe hadn’t seen the

last of her.

She timed her exit to perfection and slipped out of Workshop One. The unloading had been all for Workshop One today; she’d hoped to duck into Workshop Two and grab that file while she had the

opportunity, but their dock was already cleared and the gates were shut.

Still, she didn’t leave without notice. Her eyes tracked the leader as he moved away, plotting her next

move.

She made her way confidently toward the guard booth, moving as if the bustling crowd of security personnel simply wasn’t there. She slipped through the swarm like water through cracks

completely unnoticed, completely free.

Once inside, her eyes swept across the cramped space before fixing on the floorboards. One plank, slightly off in color and fit, caught her attention. She crouched down, wedged it looseand froze. Well, what do we

have here?

Beneath the board lay a secret stash, crammed to bursting! Piles upon piles of supplies, stacked deep like someone had tried to hide half a warehouse underground! Judging by the volume, it accounted for nearly a third of the workshop’s total output!
