To Love a Shadow To Be the Sun novel Chapter 156

Everyone was stunned.

This new battery pack was smaller than any heavy-duty truck battery on the market, yet its rated energy density was even higher.

Elara swiftly finished assembling the device, just about to begin her demonstration, when Jason's voice rang out from the audience.

"If it's truly a breakthrough, why not show us the full scope of its performance?"

She glanced over at him. Jason smiled with a hint of amusement, almost as if he expected her to stumble—or perhaps he was offering her a real chance to prove herself.

But that meant she'd have to use the professional transparent testing chamber.

Dr. Graves turned to the man beside her. "Mr. Lawrence, do you believe it's possible for a product like this to exist?"

Zane's face barely changed. "That's what the summit's for: real breakthroughs. If it's just smoke and mirrors, it'll be exposed soon enough."

Dr. Graves picked up the wireless mic. "Then let's use the transparent testing bay."

With those words, it was clear the summit would give her their time slot.

Elara hesitated, then caught sight of Zane. Her eyes burned with gratitude.

"Mr. Vincent, is that your wife up there?" Yves Caldwell thought the voice sounded familiar.

Brian pressed his lips together, silent.

"Even with the mask, why would she put herself through all this embarrassment?" Yves sighed.

Both Yves and Brian had always believed that, after spending four years as a full-time housewife, there was no way she could have developed something that entire professional teams had failed to create in years.

Once the battery pack was loaded into the testing chamber, Jason leaned over and quietly instructed his assistant, "Set the temperature range from minus sixty to one hundred and fifty degrees."

The assistant's heart skipped a beat.

That would simulate everything from polar ice caps to desert extremes—no battery on the market could survive this.

He couldn't tell if his boss was trying to help Elara shine or set her up for humiliation, but he nodded quickly. "Right away."

Elara noticed someone had reset the temperature, but it was already too late.

Summer clutched her arm, whispering anxiously, "This is bad! We've never pushed it this far in testing…"

Elara wiped the cold sweat from her brow and steadied Summer's trembling wrist.

"Don't panic. Now we'll finally have real data."

Her breathing grew rapid. Summer quickly helped her toward the staff exit.

"I texted my brother—he should be at the door soon, if you—"

Before Summer could finish, someone yanked Elara back by the shoulder.

"So four years as a harmless housewife—was all that just an act for me?"

Brian pulled her back forcefully.

Elara stumbled away from Summer, falling backwards as if gravity had abandoned her.

But Brian didn't catch her. He grabbed her wrist and tore off her glove.

"Your hand…"

The glove slipped away, revealing a web of bruises across the back of her hand.

Elara crashed into the wall. Her mask fell, exposing a pale face marred by a fresh purple bruise.

Brian's words of accusation dried up in his throat.
