To Love a Shadow To Be the Sun novel Chapter 211

“Let go.”

Brian made no effort to hide his disgust for her.

But Lina’s grip only tightened.

“I don’t know Professor Gregory personally, but I’m close friends with his daughter, Ingrid Goldsmith. She studied in Aalborg for four years and often attended the city’s high-society events. Lately, she’s been staying with her father at Lynbrook Retreat.”

Brian looked at her coolly. “What are you after?”

Lina’s eyes shimmered. “Please, don’t send me away for anyone else’s sake. Just let me stay by your side.”

Brian pressed his lips into a thin line, saying nothing.

She added, “I swear, I have no ulterior motives toward you.”

Brian let out a cold laugh. “Of all things, promises are the least trustworthy.”

Lina stood up and tucked the blanket gently around him. “I’ll prove it with my actions.”

Elara had simmered a pot of herbal broth and asked Summer to bring it to Ryan, so he could deliver it to Mrs. Archer.

Gareth’s men had followed her for three days without finding a single lead.

Later, Ryan texted Elara: Mrs. Archer was showing real improvement, and in a week, she’d be ready for surgery.

Elara finally allowed herself to breathe a little easier.

In a week, once Mrs. Archer ended the pregnancy and was no longer a pawn in the Vincent family’s power struggle, Elara would send her wherever she wanted to go.

She left Mrs. Archer in Ryan’s care for now.

After three long months, Ignition Dynamics finally received approval for its membership in the New Energy Industry Association.

This license meant millions in annual subsidies, priority access to advanced patents, and a wealth of new resources.

Today’s paperwork was crucial, but Summer’s mother had fallen ill, leaving Summer no choice but to hand the task to Elara.

“The transition between the old and new chairmen delayed the process,” Summer explained. “The new chairman is at Lynbrook Retreat right now. If you get a chance, make sure to invite him for a meal.”

“What’s his name?” Elara asked.

Summer handed her a bottle of homemade citrus-and-hawthorn infusion. “Goldsmith is his last name—I haven’t learned much else. But he has authority over the multiphysics coupling test platform, which we desperately need for our hybrid supercapacitor project. Judging by President Lawrence’s attitude the other day, the Aurora Society’s doors are closed to us. Professor Goldsmith is our second shot.”

Elara knew just how much was riding on this certification. She drove to the estate alone.

But as she reached the doors of the Lynbrook estate’s conference hall, an association secretary stopped her.

He frowned. “Why not?”

“Your motives aren’t pure,” she said flatly.

Jason couldn’t help but laugh.

The stables, Lynbrook Estate.

When they arrived, Gregory was deep in conversation with Brian.

Seated beside Brian was a woman in her mid-twenties, dressed in riding gear, exuding confidence. The two of them sat so close their chairs nearly touched, and as she sat upright, her whole body seemed to lean unconsciously toward Brian.

It was the most obvious display of admiration.

And yet, Lina could only stand behind Brian, watching as another woman once again took her place at his side.

Elara narrowed her eyes, meeting Brian’s gaze across the lawn.

Cold, piercing—like he was ready to settle some old score.

She looked away.

Jason, familiar with Gregory, paid no mind to the tension simmering in the air. He strode up and said cheerfully, “Professor, the representative from Ignition Dynamics has been hoping to meet you.”
