Too Late She Already Married Mr. Right (Sophia) novel Chapter 120

Chapter 120

After hanging up, Sophia pondered for a moment before switching her phone back on.

Her screen was immediately blasted with a barrage of missed call notifications, making her phone freeze for nearly two full

minutes.

She glanced at the flood of calls, the corner of her mouth curling into a sarcastic smile.

In three whole years of marriage, Lucas never called me this many times in one day, Sophia thought to herself.

She called Richard.

After three rings, that familiar deep voice cut through the silence. “Here I am.”

Sophia stopped for a moment. Most people would say “Hello” or “Hi,” but Richard’s simple “Here I am” was so different, so reassuring that it instantly calmed her nerves.

It felt like, no matter how ridiculous her next request sounded, he wouldn’t think she was crazy.

“Mr. Sterling, sorry for calling so late, but I need a favor,” Sophia said.

Richard had been keeping tabs on the shift in public opinion online since the afternoon.

Lucas first got mobbed by reporters trying to spring someone from jail–a total social media meltdown.

Then he turned up at Annabelle’s house, stirred up more drama, and sent the internet into another frenzy.

Sophia and Annabelle were a flawless team, landing Lucas in a mess of bad press he couldn’t ever hope to shake off.

But when Sophia called, Richard was honestly a little surprised. “Ms. Evans, you don’t need to ask so formally; we’re not

strangers.”

Sophia nervously rubbed her fingers together, trying to steel herself. “Annabelle got on the Westwood family’s bad side, and I’m worried they’ll do something to her.

“Mr. Sterling, could I trouble you to protect her for a while?”

Richard looked genuinely surprised. “This is what you wanted to ask me?”

He’d figured she’d want his help fighting the Westwood family directly, but clearly, he’d misjudged her.

The truth was, Sophia hated asking for favors.

Annabelle had once told him Sophia had a rough childhood, but she never relied on anyone.

He remembered that day at Cherry Grove, Sophia was bruised and battered, yet determined to escape that cage, no matter

the cost.

He’d seen her steely resolve then. Today, he saw the pain hidden deep beneath it.

Lucas was never the kind of guy one would want to trust with one’s whole future.

Seeing Richard’s unreadable expression, his secretary Harley carefully spoke up, “Mr. Sterling, Yadel Group is right in the crosshairs online.

“Everyone’s circling, hoping to take a big bite. Should we make a move?”

Richard drummed his fingers on his phone. “Tell everyone. Just enjoy the show. We’re keeping our hands clean.”

Harley mulled it over for a second. “So we’re really just handing over that juicy prize to someone else?”

“Yadel Group’s just too rich for my taste. I’m laying off anything greasy lately; don’t need the upset stomach,” Richard said with a faint smile.

Harley caught on instantly.
