Chapter 201
Billy slammed his cup down on the table, his face darkening with anger.
“Sophia, are you threatening me?” he demanded.
Sophia said, “While I was away last week, I secured the patent for the formula. Without my permission, you can’t produce the regenerating cream. Try it, and that’s patent infringement–I’ll have the right to claw back every dime you made off my formula.”
Billy leaned forward, his fists clenched tightly as he pressed them against his knees.
He never would have guessed he would let Sophia have him completely at her mercy.
“Mr. Westwood, forget about the formula. But I could bail you out of Yadel Group’s PR crisis,” Sophia said.
“Let me guess, that’s your second condition, isn’t it?” she said.
Billy’s face was dark with anger–having Sophia corner him like this really burned.
“So how are you gonna fix it?” Billy gritted out.
Sophia shrugged. “This PR crisis is hanging over your head–the longer you wait, the deeper the scars on the company’s reputation.”
“It has been over a week since the scandal broke, and Yadel Group hasn’t caught a break for a single moment. If you don’t sort this out soon, the company will go under before you have the chance to use that formula,” she added.
“So…” Billy’s face darkened as he shot Sophia a cold, piercing look.
“I’m sure you’ve brought in the hottest crisis PR experts and tried every trick in the book, but not a single solution could put out the fire your company’s facing,” Sophia said.
If any of those strategies had actually worked, Billy wouldn’t have come to her the moment she got out of the hospital.
“State your terms,” Billy said.
Sophia replied, “Tomorrow morning at nine, Lucas and I will be at courthouse to get our divorce papers. As soon as we have them, I’ll hand over the PR plan.”
“What if you snag those divorce papers and just hand me some phony PR fix?” Billy challenged, not trusting her in the slightest.
Sophia smiled. “Well, looks like you’ll have to gamble on my integrity.”
After all, it was they coming to her for help–not the other way around.
Billy fixed Sophia with a razor–sharp, predatory stare.
But even with all that fury, he was utterly powerless against her.
“Fine. Tomorrow, I expect that PR plan–don’t you dare try to play games with me.” Billy warned.
Sophia rose to her feet. “And Mr. Westwood, maybe you can get Lucas to stop acting so immature.”
With that, she turned and headed for the door.
Emily clenched her teeth and rushed after Sophia.
Out in the yard, Emily cut in front of Sophia and blocked her way.
“Are you really going to divorce Lucas?” Emily asked.
Sophia snarked, “Seriously, unless you’ve gone deaf, you would know it’s the Westwood family refusing the divorce.”
Emily still looked uneasy. “You’re not gonna go back on your word, are you?”
“Emily, only you would still treat Lucas like he’s worth fighting over,” Sophia said. “Let me make something clear–ever since he shoved me to the ground because of you and nearly cost me my child, divorce was the only thing I ever wanted.”
“If you weren’t so useless, we would have been divorced ages ago,” she snapped.
Emily flinched, obviously stung. “Let’s be real–you’re just sticking around for the Westwood family’s money. So don’t turn around and pin it all on me!”
Sophia sneered, “Alright then, show me what you’ve got. If you can’t make him divorce me, you’ll just be a joke in my eyes–forever.”
With those words, she shoved Emily’s hand away and walked off without giving her another glance.
Emily glared at Sophia’s back as she stormed off, stomping her foot in pure frustration–but honestly, there was just no way to beat her.
Sophia and Lucas were set to get divorced tomorrow, and at this critical moment, Emily couldn’t afford any unexpected complications.
And once those divorce papers were signed, Emily was hell–bent on ruining Sophia’s reputation for good.
