Too Late She Already Married Mr. Right (Sophia) novel Chapter 202

When Sophia got back to Annabelle’s apartment, she saw Annabelle on the couch, dozing off with a pillow hugged close.

At the sound of the door opening, Annabelle’s eyes suddenly popped open.

Sophia had tried to sneak in quietly so that she wouldn’t disturb Annabelle, but she ended up facetoface with Annabelle’s sleepy gaze.

Sophia slipped into her slippers and walked over. Why are you sleeping out here in the living room?

Annabelle snuggled into Sophia’s arms, wrapping her arms around Sophia’s waist. I woke up out of the blue and remembered how it felt like two strangers were tailing us when we got back.”

Was she scared awake?Sophia thought.

It’s fine now, everything’s sorted. Tomorrow morning, I’m heading to the courthouse to divorce Lucas,Sophia said.

Annabelle looked up at her. They agreed?

Yeah, Billy agreed, but only if I handle the Yadel Group’s PR crisis,Sophia replied.

Annabelle frowned. Billy is really exploitative. He sure knows how to squeeze every drop out of a situation.

Sophia kept a cool face. They say marriage is all about starting over, but when it comes time for a divorce, that’s when a guy’s true colors show.

Makes sense, with an old fox like Billy running the Westwood family,’ Sophia thought to herself.

If she wanted to walk away, they would make sure to bleed her dry firstno way they would ever let her get what she wanted without a fight.

Annabelle looked worried. Sophie, Billy definitely isn’t done yethe’s bound to have more schemes.

Of course he does,Sophia replied.

Billy laid out two conditions: one, he wanted to get his hands on the formula for skin regeneration without paying a dime; and two, he expected her to handle the Yadel Group’s PR crisis.

He made it look like he was willing to drop one of them, but the truth was, he was not letting anything go.

Since the divorce wouldn’t be finalized until they received the divorce decree, if Lucas suddenly backed out, she would have to use the formula to fight for her freedom.

Billy, that sly old fox, really did have her all mapped out.

Annabelle caught on immediately and scoffed, her voice laced with irony. They seriously want to bleed you dry.

Sophia pinched her brow. It’s not worth losing sleep over folks like him. Get some rest.

Annabelle looked at her, worried. Sophie, you’re seriously just gonna sit tight and let them eat you alive?

Sophia reached out. pinched her cheek, and grinned. Don’t worry about me. Just go to bed.”

She planned to file for divorce first. As for whether they would change their minds after that, she would just cross that bridge when she came to it.

The next day, Sophia got up early. After breakfast, she changed into a fresh outfit and headed out to the courthouse.

At exactly nine o’clock, people started flowing in and out of the courthouse.

Sophia paced at the entrance, backpack slung over one shoulder, clutching her marriage certificate and ID, her steps betraying a hint of nervousness.

Minute after minute passed, but not once did Lucas show up.

Just when Sophia was starting to think Lucas had totally bailed on her, he finally showed up.

Lucas climbed out of his SUV, dressed in a black suit and crisp white shirt, steadying himself with a cane.

He limped over to Sophia, every step slow and deliberate, his whole demeanor dripping with arrogance and contempt.

Sophia, don’t you dare regret divorcing me.Lucas said.

Sophia gave a faint, almost mocking smile, then strode straight into the courthouse, her decisive steps making it clear she couldn’t wait to get this over with.

Lucas’s eyes were bloodshot as he glared at Sophia’s retreating figure, his grip on the cane tightening. Then he

followed her inside.

Sophia figured Lucas would try to make a scene.

But to her surprise, he was dead silent the entire time. Whenever the staff told him to fill out a form or sign something, he just did it without a word.

The whole thing went so smoothly that it actually gave Sophia the creeps.

Is it just me overthinking things? Am I seeing conspiracies everywhere that aren’t there?Sophia couldn’t help but wonder.

Without exchanging a single word, they walked out of the courthouse. Lucas’s bodyguards helped him into the SUV, and it pulled away, leaving Sophia behind.

Sophia stood on the steps, staring at the papers in her hand. She closed her eyes for a moment, trying to steady herself.
