A single tear slipped down Emily's face as she gazed at Lucas, completely devastated.
She demanded, "Lucas, what did | do to deserve this? Why are you sending me away?"
Back then, every time Emily cried, Lucas felt like his heart was about to break in two for her.
But now, seeing her like this, he wasn't moved at all. If anything, he just thought she was being fake—maybe even a little pathetic.
Turns out, love really could disappear without a trace.
Lucas snapped, "Cry, cry, cry—can you do anything besides bawl your eyes out? All my good fortunes dried up thanks to your endless tears."
He thought, ‘If it weren't for Emily, Yadel Group's reputation wouldn't have kept getting worse.’
Back when Lucas was head over heels for Emily, he thought everything she did was adorable.
Now, all that was left was irritation.
Emily stared at Lucas, utterly shocked, her tears clinging stubbornly to her lashes, right on the verge of falling.
She asked, "Don't you want me anymore?"
Lucas couldn't stand to look at her anymore. Annoyed, he turned his gaze away and said, "Emily, you have your own home. There's no need for you to depend on anyone else."
With that, he walked away, vanishing from Emily's sight in an instant.
Emily stared at the empty doorway, the sound of an engine fading into the distance. She clenched her fists so tightly that her knuckles turned white.
She thought, ‘Lucas really is done with me. He doesn't care anymore.
‘It's all Sophia's fault. She's the one about to divorce Lucas, but instead of leaving me in peace, she still has to make my life miserable and shove all the blame on me.
‘Damn Sophia! She's truly the worst!’
At the party, Sophia suddenly let out a loud sneeze, making Annabelle glance over at her in concern.
"Are you feeling alright? Is it chilly in here? Let me grab you a shawIll,”
Annabelle said, her tone filled with worry.
But before Annabelle could finish, Micah, standing right beside Sophia, quickly slipped off his suit jacket and draped it over Sophia's shoulders without hesitation.
The warm scent of cologne hit Sophia as Micah's jacket settled heavily around her shoulders.
She felt embarrassed accepting his gesture and immediately tried to shrug off the jacket to give it back.
"Mr. Nelson, I'm really fine. You should keep your jacket," Sophia said, holding it out to him.
