Too Late She Already Married Mr. Right (Sophia) novel Chapter 36

Chapter 36

Seeing the cold determination in Sophia’s eyes, Lucas panicked. He hadn’t meant to hurt her; he’d just wanted to protect Emily from her harsh words.

He kept thinking that if Sophia hadn’t shown up three years ago. Emily never would’ve had to leave the Evans family or him. To him, this was all Sophia’s fault.

But now, with Sophia totally shutting him out, he felt a wave of panic.

As she turned to leave, Lucas grabbed her wrist and yanked her back. “Where are you going?”

“I don’t belong here. I’m going somewhere I do. Let go.” Sophia wrenched against his iron grip.

Lucas threw her over his shoulder. “You’re not going anywhere.” He stormed inside, ignoring her furious struggles.

Hanging upside down, Sophia swung her bag and smacked him in the back. “Jerk! Put me down! I’ll just leave you and Emily alone. You seriously want me here to watch you two act all lovey–dovey?”

She kicked and twisted, almost breaking free until Lucas gave her a sharp smack on the butt. “Quit it,” he said.

That shut her up. She stopped fighting and just dangled there. He carried her upstairs–still wearing his leather shoes–and dropped her onto the master bed.

A little dizzy, she tried to get up, but he shoved her back down and pinned her in place with his arms.

Lucas loomed over her, staring down. “Why are you so jealous? Emily’s just like a sister to me. Can’t you be reasonable?”

Sophia remembered the day Lucas walked out of Emily’s room with hickeys on his neck and scoffed in her head, ‘A sister? Yeah, right. What kind of “sister” does that?”

She turned her face away. “Sorry, I can’t. Just get off me. I don’t even want to look at you.”

Maybe it was what she said–or the disgust on her face–that hit him. He suddenly remembered how she threw up after he kissed her at Annabelle’s door.

He pinned her wrists above her head and hissed, “Oh, playing hard to get? Is this because I haven’t given you enough attention lately? If you want it, just say so.” He leaned in to kiss her.

“Don’t touch me!” Sophia turned away from him. “You’re shameless.”

Lucas was furious. He ripped at her blouse and shouted, “Shameless? Quit pretending. I’ve seen every inch of you.”

The words shattered her. Sophia fought back like crazy, landed a hard slap, and knocked him flat on the bed.

She scrambled away, putting space between them, out of breath. “You make me sick, Lucas, every part of you. Every time you touch me, I want to throw up.”

Lucas’s eyes narrowed. “What did you say?”

“Get out!” she screamed, pointing at the door. “I can’t even stand to look at you right now.”

The pure hatred and disgust in her eyes hit him hard. Lucas stormed out like a tornado,

The door slammed. Silence crashed down. Sophia slid down by the desk, covering her face. Sobs shook her whole body. This marriage felt like a prison. She couldn’t stand another day in this hell.

Lucas slouched in a VIP room at Midnight Vault, an upscale bar, drowning his sorrows. His old buddies were all there.

But they began to worry about Emily. She’d grown up with them, so they still hoped Lucas would end up with her.

Frank propped his chin on his hand. “Man, Sophia’s out of line. You gotta put her in her place.”

Lucas looked intrigued. “Yeah? How?”

Frank shrugged. “Knock her up. No way she’d leave if she’s got your kid. She’d be stuck with you for good.”

The guys snickered and nodded. “Dude, that’s genius.”

But one guy sat quietly in the corner, not saying a word. He was the one who’d driven Sophia to the hospital that day. He knew she’d almost had a miscarriage.

He’d tried calling Lucas to let him know, but Emily had picked up instead. Now, he realized Lucas still had no clue Sophia was pregnant.

Lucas just waved Frank off. “She won’t even let me touch her. And she can’t have kids anyway.”

Frank just sneered. “Who cares? Push her into IVF. As long as you get a kid, how it happens doesn’t matter.”

There was zero respect in his voice–he didn’t see Sophia as a person at all.

The quiet guy in the corner frowned, thinking, ‘If Lucas tries IVF, he’ll find out she’s already pregnant. But Emily’s waiting

for him to get divorced. A baby would ruin her plans. No way. I’ve got to warn Emily ASAP!
