Too Late She Already Married Mr. Right (Sophia) novel Chapter 53

Lucas was rooted to the spot, his mind completely blown. He stared in utter disbelief, as if his whole world just came crashing down.

“No way! I don’t believe this,” he roared after a long while. In the next instant, he tried to lunge at Sophia, attempting to drag her off the hospital bed–only to be pinned down hard by the bodyguards, unable to move an inch.

He shouted, “Sophia, talk to me! You’re messing with me, aren’t you? You told me you could never have kids. It’s all just an excuse, just so you can avoid going through IVF, right?”

Lucas thought, “That’s got to be it! How could she be so selfish? She can’t give me a child, but she won’t even let me have one of my own?

All I want is to have a child with her, to live a happy life together, all the way until we are old and gray. Why can’t she get that?‘

When Sophia heard his accusations, her heart felt numb–not even the faintest trace of pain touched her.

“If that helps you feel better, go on and keep lying to yourself,” Sophia replied coldly.

“You!” Lucas shouted furiously.

He was surrounded by a heavy, suffocating darkness as he stared at Sophia, his gaze fixed on her without blinking.

It was only now that he realized how much she’d changed. Her eyes were vacant, every spark of life drained from her as she lay motionless on the bed.

If her chest wasn’t still rising and falling ever so faintly, he might’ve wondered if she was even still alive.

This wasn’t the Sophia he knew. The Sophia he remembered was always vibrant, like a little ray of sunshine–no matter how tough things got, nothing could ever break her.

She wasn’t supposed to be lying there like this, lifeless, like someone already with one foot in the grave.

Lucas said, “If you don’t want to try IVF, nobody’s going to force you. You didn’t need to come up with such a ridiculous excuse just to mess with me.

“I’m not holding it against you for crashing my mother’s birthday party with that coffin stunt. When you’re feeling better, I’ll bring you back. You’re still my wife.”

Lucas thought, ‘She must’ve gone through all of this just to get me to drop the whole IVF idea. It’s fine. As long as she’s by my side, whether it takes one year, two, five, or even more–eventually, she’ll give in and have my child.

Annabelle was absolutely livid. She said, “Are you fucking deaf or what? Can’t you understand what we are telling you?”

She’d never thought Lucas could be this thick–headed. She thought, ‘Did that dumb and nasty Emily actually fry his brain?”

Annabelle said, “Lucas, if you don’t believe anything we say, go check for yourself. The night of your birthday, you knocked Sophie to the ground, and she almost miscarried. There are hospital records. Go look them up.

“Sophie needs to rest now. Get him out of here. If he comes back to bother her again, you’re all fired.”

The bodyguards immediately straightened up, grabbed Lucas, and unceremoniously threw him out of the ward.

Lucas had never been this disgraced in his entire life. He made a mental note to hold this against Annabelle.

He thought, ‘Once I get back together with Sophia, I’ll make sure she cuts Annabelle off for good!”

He straightened out his hospital gown, and then shouted through the door to Sophia inside, “Babe, get some rest. I’ll come see you tomorrow.”

Inside the room, Annabelle rolled her eyes speechlessly. She sat at Sophia’s bedside, stared at her pale face, and then grumbled, “Is he seriously out of his damn mind?”

She thought, ‘How the hell does Lucas still have the nerve to call Sophia ‘Babe‘? What a hypocritical piece of shit!‘
