Too Late She Already Married Mr. Right (Sophia) novel Chapter 65

Lucas instinctively took a step back when he saw Sophia raise the golf club at him.

“Sophia, don’t do anything stupid. Put the club down!” he said.

Sophia stepped closer, tightened her grip on the club and shot Lucas a frosty look. “Put it down and let you walk all over

me?”

Lucas said, “Sophia, don’t talk like that. What do you mean, ‘walk all over you? You’re my wife. I brought you home so you could heal. Is that wrong?”

Lucas sounded so self–righteous that Sophia couldn’t help but laugh.

She said, “Am I an idiot? Was staying in a comfy hospital suite too much for me? Why should I let you drag me back to this suffocating, windowless utility room?”

Emily popped her head out from behind Lucas and said, “That’s Annabelle’s fault. She brought her own squad and blocked Lucas so he couldn’t take care of you himself.”

The moment Annabelle’s name came up, Sophia could barely hold back her urge to strangle Emily right then and there.

“Shut the hell up!” she snapped.

Sophia thought, ‘If Emily hadn’t egged Lucas on in that hallway, Annabelle never would’ve gotten a beating. I haven’t even let her pay for that yet, and now she’s pretty much asking for it herself!

Actually, Sophia had spent the whole afternoon holed up in the utility room, trying to recover.

Her body was still a mess from that nasty illness, way too weak to do much. After Helen left, she pretty much crashed and slept again.

When Sophia finally woke up, her throat was so parched that it was burning. There was no water in sight, so she forced herself up, shuffled out of bed, and made her way to the kitchen for something to drink.

Just as she finished her drink and stepped out, she spotted Emily bounding down the spiral staircase.

Sophia’s eyes instinctively landed on Emily’s legs, so full of energy, and she couldn’t help but think, ‘If I snapped those legs, would she still be hopping around like that?‘

Emily caught Sophia’s chilling gaze and felt a shiver run down her spine, spreading through her whole body in an instant.

She slowly made her way down the stairs and said, “Oh, you’re up. Looks like you’re back from the dead.”

With a pout, she said. “Sophia, the pillows are for leaning on, not for stepping on.”

Sophia shot her a glance, and then followed Emily’s gaze down to the pillows under her feet.

Feeling that stepping on them wasn’t enough, she ground her slipper soles into the pillows a few more times, smearing them with dust before flashing Emily a mocking, provocative grin.

She said. “I’ve always been curious, Emily. Why are you always treating me like a concubine treating the legal wife in ancient

times?”

Emily’s face flushed with anger, lips trembling so hard she looked ready to snap.

She said, “You’re more like a concubine, Sophia. Lucas and I grew up together, and he doesn’t love you at all. Your title as his wife is just for show. You’re more like a mistress.”

Sophia just smirked and shot back, “I thought you just had no morals, but honestly, I think you might be out of your mind as well.

“Ever heard of the law about marriage? You’re the textbook mistress, hooking up with a married man. Back in the old days, they’d drown people like you.”
