Too Late She Already Married Mr. Right (Sophia) novel Chapter 75

Everyone in the Sterling residence had gone out of their way to be kind to Sophia lately, and she couldn’t possibly repay

them.

Sophia wanted to personally buy some gifts for everyone, and since Annabelle was free that afternoon, the two of them decided to head downtown for a shopping spree.

Buying gifts really took some thought. Sophia chose a skincare set for Daisy and picked out a tea set for Jason. But when it got to Richard, Sophia was truly stumped.

With someone like Richard, it was not like he needed anything. Clothes felt a bit too intimate, and accessories just didn’t sit right either.

After considering all her options, Sophia suddenly remembered that Richard loved playing chess. Luckily, there was a specialty counter on the fifth floor packed with chess sets made from all sorts of materials.

They hopped onto the elevator and rode up to the fifth floor. Right away, a salesperson greeted them, eager to introduce all kinds of chess sets.

Sophia listened to the introductions as she wandered about, her attention finally landing on an exquisite jade chess set.

The milky–white jade pieces were beautifully translucent, and the jet–black stones had a mysterious depth, just like the set she’d used with Richard during their game in the park that night.

But when Annabelle saw the price tag, she gasped, “Whoa, that’s crazy expensive. 300 thousand dollars!”

Sophia had to admit that the price was way out of her budget. But holding the smooth, cool chess pieces in her hand, she couldn’t help but think that good things were always worth their price.

Sophia said, “It’s fine. I’ve finally found the perfect gift. It’s worth the price. Could you please wrap it up for me?”

The salesperson smiled. “You have excellent taste. This set is our store’s pride and joy. It just arrived this morning.”

Just as Sophia was about to pay, a familiar voice called out.

The one said, “I’ll take that chess set!”

The three of them turned around and saw Emily, looking every bit the little princess in a white puffed–sleeve top and a black bubble skirt, strolling in arm–in–arm with David.

Trailing behind them were Charles and Margaret, all still smiling when they spotted Sophia, the grins still fresh on their faces. They were hanging out like a loving family.

That scene slightly hurt Sophia for no reason at all. She turned away, coolly choosing to act like they didn’t exist.

Her totally unconcerned attitude made all four of them frown–David most of all.

Truth was, the reason Emily never bothered coming back all these years was because life out there was just way too sweet for

her.

All Emily had to do was play the victim, and the Evans family would abandon Sophia in a heartbeat, flying off to Felarica to stay with her.

Whether Emily came back or not, she’d always be the one who mattered most in this family. Nothing Sophia did would ever change that.

“Say whatever you want,” Sophia said, her tone indifferent. They couldn’t be more biased already, so she wouldn’t bother arguing.

She said, “Check, please.”

David’s expression darkened the moment he saw Sophia pull out a bank card and hand it to the cashier.

He strode over and yanked the card right out of her hand. After taking a look at the card, he let out a derisive snort, like he’d just gotten something on her.

He said, “You don’t even take Mom and Dad as your parents, but you’ve got the guts to use their card?”
