Chapter 81
Sophia had always known Lucas was shameless, but she hadn’t expected him to be this disgusting.
She laughed in anger. “Are you out of your mind? You want a child with Emily, but through my womb, huh? Don’t you find that disgusting?”
She thought, ‘He’s just like Helen. Both of them are shameless in their own way!
Lucas said, “If you want a divorce, you must accept this condition. Otherwise, forget about ever divorcing me.”
Sophia fixed her gaze on him. She knew he was trying to torment her. “Lucas, do you really have to go this far? You might regret it someday.”
Lucas‘ face darkened. “I know what I’m doing. I don’t need your warnings.”
Sophia watched him silently, her gaze sending shivers down Lucas‘ spine.
He asked, “Why are you staring at me like that?”
“Lucas, don’t tell me you’re catching feelings for me,” Sophia teased. Her voice was icy, dripping with sarcasm.
Lucas froze. He wanted to admit it, yet felt embarrassed. He didn’t know what to say. “Are you crazy? Why would you think I’ve fallen for you? No way.”
Seeing him flustered, Sophia gave a faint smirk. “You’d better not.”
Lucas sat back on the couch, fuming as he saw Sophia return to her phone.
He couldn’t stand being brushed off, so he kicked the couch, saying, “Put the phone down. I’m hungry. Go make me something to eat.”
It had been a long time since he had enjoyed her cooking. He missed that unique taste dearly.
Sophia didn’t even bother to look up. “Can’t you make it yourself?”
Lucas was angry at the refusal but dared not complain. After sitting for a while, he got up and headed to the kitchen.
Sophia had always been the one to cook, but now, with their conflict escalating, Lucas decided to make a meal for her. He thought that once she calmed down, she would go back to him and care for him.
The thought made him perk up immediately.
Helen sat in the Bentley, her face dark. “I don’t understand. Why are you against their divorce?”
Billy, clad in a deep brown suit and wearing rimmed glasses, radiated the poise and wisdom of a leader. “Lucas doesn’t want a divorce yet.”
Helen raised her voice. “Why do you care so much about his opinion? Sophia brings nothing to his career. She constantly makes him angry, and this time, she even got him attacked.”
Helen’s sharp voice filled the car, and Billy frowned impatiently, saying, “Could you lower your voice? The whole city can hear you.”
Helen held back her anger. “I just want to know why you’re against their divorce.”

“Figure it out yourself,” said Billy.
Helen was furious. “Back when the Evans family reunited with her and insisted on enforcing the agreement you made with Marcus Evans, I strongly opposed it.
“They’ve been married only three years and already resorted to violence. During the more than half a month Sophia was missing, she might have been with someone else.”
Billy had grown tired of her words and sharply interrupted, “Enough. Sophie isn’t that kind of person. Don’t be prejudiced against her.”
Helen said, “Do you think you know her well? She’s just a girl from a small town. She’s unworthy of your protection.”
Lucas gritted his teeth and pulled a card from his wallet, slapping it onto her palm. “Is this what you want?”
Sophia pocketed the card and stood up, heading for the door.
Lucas was startled and quickly followed her. “Where are you going? Are you leaving again?”

Without looking back, Sophia walked out. “I’m going to get a new phone.”
Lucas followed her closely. “I’m coming with you.”
The reason he clung so closely was his fear that she might never return.
Sophia said impatiently, “Can you stop following me?”
“My phone is also old, and I want a new one. We’re going to the same place, so what’s wrong with walking together?” Lucas said, looking completely justified.
Sophia sneered. Back then, when she wanted Lucas to go shopping with her, he found her bothersome and sent a secretary. Now she didn’t need him, and he stuck close anyway.
She said, “Lucas, do you know how annoying you are?”
Lucas‘ face darkened. He grabbed her by the neck and pulled her close. “Sophia, don’t test me. I’ve been more than patient with you.”
He thought, ‘I hate it when she mocks me. Didn’t she always insist I accompany her shopping before? And now I am, so how dare she ridicule me?‘
