Too Late She Already Married Mr. Right (Sophia) novel Chapter 83

Chapter 83

After dinner, Sophia returned to Cherry Grove. The living room was brightly lit, and the moment she entered, she saw Lucas sitting on the couch, waiting for her.

The light was harsh. Lucas sat there, gazing at her with intensity like a lion eyeing its prey.

“Where have you been?” Lucas asked.

Sophia tossed the phone packaging onto the coffee table, ignoring him completely.

Lucas’s eyes were bloodshot, his hair disheveled, looking both miserable and pitiful. “I thought you were coming back to make things right. Sophia, can you stop this? Can we just return to the way we used to be?”

Sophia leaned against the couch, looking down at him with a mocking glint in her eyes. “Lucas, do you remember what I said when we registered our marriage?”

Lucas was stunned, trying to recall her words from that day, but his mind went blank. “How could I possibly remember something from three years ago? You’re making this hard for me.”

Seeing him defend himself so confidently, Sophia felt even more disappointed. She nodded slightly. “See? You don’t really care about me. Then why won’t you divorce me?”

Lucas’s expression darkened, but he refused to admit he had ignored Sophia. “I don’t have a say in the divorce. I can’t go against my dad.”

Sophia, done with arguing, turned and started up the stairs. She paused on the stairs and looked back. “I’m taking the master bedroom. You can pick any other room.”

She called Rachel upstairs to help make the bed. If she had the time, she even considered tossing out the bed Lucas had slept in and getting a new one.

Lucas snapped to his feet, glaring at Sophia with fury. “Don’t go too far. This house is mine. What gives you the right to decide where I am staying?”

Sophia looked at him for a bit, then gave in. “Fine. The master bedroom is yours. I won’t stay here.”

She didn’t want to be here at all, and even a glance at Lucas annoyed her.

Thinking she might go see her lover after leaving Cherry Grove, Lucas swallowed his anger. “Fine. You take the master bedroom. I’ll sleep in the study.”

By the time Sophia went upstairs, Rachel had already replaced all the bedding with fresh items.

Rachel held the old sheets, looking at Sophia. “Mrs. Westwood, are you feeling better now?”

She had witnessed how Lucas had lost his temper and struck Sophia that day. No matter how she tried, she couldn’t stop

him.

Sophia smiled. “I’m fine. Thank you, Rachel.”

“I’m glad you’re okay. I hope you can leave peacefully with Mr. Westwood,” said Rachel. Deep down, she hoped Sophia wouldn’t act recklessly against Lucas again, aware of how cruel the latter could be.

She had once told her daughter–in–law that she envied Sophia for having such a wealthy husband, but now she realized she was wrong. Life in a wealthy marriage wasn’t as perfect as she had thought.

Sophia reassured her. “Don’t worry. I won’t get into any more fights with him.”

“That’s good. I believe you two just need some time alone. Once you’ve cooled off, you’ll fall in love all over again,” Rachel said with a smile.

Sophia’s smile faded. “We never loved each other.”

Sophia thought, ‘I have always tried to please him, yet all I got were cold stares and violence.

She had once had some hopes for Lucas, but after being beaten by David during her miscarriage with Lucas standing by, and when he swung a pool cue at her, she lost all faith in him.

Clutching her phone, she wondered why Billy wanted her at the company. She thought, ‘Is he expecting me to fix Emily’s mess?

She deeply regretted the choices she had made back then.

Kyle realized that no matter what he tried, Sophia remained unmoved. He had no choice but to call Billy.

Billy said seriously, “Give her the phone. I’ll speak to her.”

Kyle returned to the living room and handed the phone to Sophia. “Mr. Westwood wants to talk to you.”

Sophia pursed her lips, hesitating for a moment before taking the phone.

Billy’s low, commanding voice echoed through the phone. “Come to the office. We need to talk about your divorce from

Lucas.

He knew exactly how to handle Sophia.

Sure enough, she pursed her lips and said, “Are you finally agreeing to my divorce from him?”

She hesitated. After all, Billy opposed their divorce just a few days ago, and now he was using it as an excuse to summon her to the company. She suspected it was bait and that Billy wasn’t telling the truth.

Regardless of her doubts, she had to go. She couldn’t miss any opportunity to finalize her divorce from Lucas.

“You’ll know once you get here,” Billy said, hanging up again.

This time, Sophia didn’t get angry. She returned the phone to Kyle. “Wait here for me. I’m going to change my clothes.”
